[Heartless get about the place. This is something that no-one should be surprised at by now. Some dangerous, some less so.

The one that's stalking through the corridors in the main hub of the DR, though? It's hard to tell which category it falls under. While it's not seeking to attack anyone, it's hard to call its behaviour passive, either. Quick and agile, it's moving from hiding spot to hiding spot, tracking various individuals down the corridor.

If they were to look at it, they'd see a unique figure, too: a humanoid halfway between a Shadow and the dark Guardian. Bandages and wraps seem to be echoing clothing in spots, protecting its arms and legs and crossing across its shoulders and face. What little expression it has seems almost - curious?

It might be watching you right now.
Especially if you're anyone who a certain young Xehanort of a normally lighter persuasion might think he recognises.]

[Well now. That's certainly something, although Braig is definitely keeping on his guard.]

[Okay, the Heartless is definitely watching Braig carefully, from around this corner...

It knows him, it's sure. All familiar, comfortable darkness, almost like family... if it could only think, rather than fighting through the instincts that are saying perfect heart for snatching. Because those thoughts are still there somewhere, that intelligence, and perhaps something'll show in its eyes at the moment...]

Braig, quite naturally, is watching right back to the best of his ability. He hasn't summoned his arrowguns just yet, but still. Better safe than sorry.]

[Creeping forward, now, slowly, carefully. And while it's restraining itself, it does raise one hand, reaching out...]

That's not for you.

[His heart, he means, and he's got absolutely no idea if it'll listen, but...]

[Aw. Sad Heartless is sad, noticeably slumping back.]

Ah-ah. You know the deal.

[That just gets a bit of a curious look, head tilted. What's going on? What deal? Totally baffled here.]

What, don't tell me you forgot?

[Not forgot. Just not all caught up on things, yet. But what patience it has seems to be eroding fast, the struggling thoughts of you know this person that are trying to exist in that shattered mind losing ground...

A defensive shrug does at least come of it all, though hands are raised with it.]

You don't go after this-- [he taps at his heart] --and I don't have to break out the hurt.

[And - slump. Oh, come on... followed by a bit of a helpless look, limbs and tendrils alike flopping down. What to do now, huh? What's it supposed to - what's he supposed to -

Just generally looking rather hopeless here.]

Besides, I'm sure there's gotta be something better for you than little old me.

[Okay, that perked him up a little - if he could smile, right now, he would have. Looking around a bit, here. A bit of a gesture - where to go?

True that part of him knows that it shouldn't just go snatching hearts, but it's so hard to listen to right now... he's grown too used to listening to the hunger instead.]

Hey, leave it to me. I'm sure we can find something.

[Looks like he's laughing here - a warped little sound, shoulders shaking. D'aw, thanks, pal.]

[Hey, he knows what sort of things a Heartless might like. That and he's got practice in this sort of thing.]

[A little more lucid, helped by this 'conversation', such as it is, he makes a bit of a 'so, come on...' gesture.]

Follow me.

[He's never had to look for Heartless food in the DR, but he figures there's bound to be somewhere that suits the kid's needs better just at the moment.]

[Got it! He nods, looking a bit more perked up again, ready to move as soon as Braig does.]

[Once Braig is sure that the Heartless has caught the general idea, he sets off into the DR at large. He's not quite sure where he's going, but hey. An adventure is an adventure all the same, after all.]

[He seems pretty happy tagging along; his mind's steady enough to trust that even if Braig doesn't exactly know what he's doing, it's still a better plan than before.]

[Well, at least someone believes in what he's up to. Fortunately, it's no great hardship to find the darker corners of the place, where there are at least other Heartless, if not necessarily something for Xeheartless to eat.]

[His human personality might be saying not a good idea, but the rest of him's definitely feeling a bit better for the darker scenery, and he's probably running ahead a bit as they get in there. Thanks, pal.]

[No problem. He knows the sorts of things a Heartless needs aren't really the same as what a person needs.]

[Looking around, now, trying to get the smell of the place too; it's rather refreshing to get out here. It's not all that familiar territory, not anywhere he'd have sought to come as a human, but still - looking good. What to find around here, though, hmm... a target, or something a bit more socially acceptable?]

[That's something that Braig can't answer. he can certainly get Xeha into the general area, and certainly won't bat an eye at whatever choice gets made, but the actual decision process? That's something that he can't affect and so he doesn't even bother trying.]

[He'll be vanishing for a little bit, then, as he sees what the options are...

... when he returns, he's going to look a bit embarrassed and guilty. A bit down. A bit annoyed with himself? A Heartless's gotta do what a Heartless's gotta do... but damn. It hasn't helped him.
It never entirely does.]

[Braig doesn't mean to judge. The dark is the dark and isn't just how things go. Besides, he's at least keeping the kid from ending up rampaging through the place, which isn't much but is still perhaps the best anyone can hope for.]

[Some measure of control, at least. It's something. He's giving Braig a look, now - what now?]

Feelin' a little better, there?

[Mmmm. A rather more human response here, a handwave, a shrug - yeah, a bit. Definitely feeling physically better, even if a bit low about wish I didn't have to do that, but what else is there?]

[Not much, all things considered. The life of Heartless is a strange one and there's very little that can really be done about it.]

Think you'll be alright here? Or is there anything else you wanted to get to?

[Fidget. Shrug - things seem so simple. A lot of things from his old life seem distant, right now - seem like he can't really go after them.

He'll reach out to give Braig a pat on the arm. Just glad to have him on his side.]

[That gets a wry sort of smile out of Braig. He's made his decisions and besides, there's gotta be some way of getting Xeha back to himself around here.]

[It'd seem to be the case, wouldn't it? As it is, he's just kind of fidgeting, enough of the hunger taken out of him that he can start to be a bit more rational again.]
