Hey, no worries, I'll be done before you even-

[- calls a slightly unusual-looking Axel as he rounds the bottom of a staircase and steps out into a corridor.

Heck. This sure doesn't look like the World That Never Was. Something like this, he'd have thought he'd have got it - well.

Step back up the staircase? No sign of where he's come from. Step back down? Still weird. Pop a portal? Doesn't want to go.
He can only think of one person who could have done something like this, and it sure as heck doesn't seem like his old (friend, companion,) ally's doing... He stretches out, looks around. Gives a light little laugh.]

Heh. Well, this is interesting...

[Okay, familiar face, even if (something's going on, why does something not fit) in an unexpected place. It's a good start, and he smiles.]

Right. You kept it quiet - wait. What am I saying - look who I'm talking to.
[He shoots a sly grin over at Lexaeus there.]

So what's the deal? Who put in the one way stairs?

I wouldn't be able to answer that. They may have simply always been there, unnoticed until just now.

Heh. [He folds his arms. Sure, there's been things in the past - he thinks? He's not sure... but this is different.]

Apart from that?

Life has been continuing on.

[There's a shrug to go with his words, as if he's not really sure what Axel is looking for.]

[Rolling his eyes-]

Come on. Can I not get the silent treatment for once?

[There's a 'you've got to be kidding me' look-]

... Either this is complete overkill as far as somewhere to change your coat goes, or the name doesn't exactly ['tiny' gesture with hand] match what I'm seeing.

The latter. It's far more of a crossroads than any dressing room.

Crossroads. Huh. [He takes a look around again.] Now this is definitely new.

Right. So. [Idly gesturing, before sticking his hands in his pockets for a moment-] Anything else I oughta know? 'Cause this seems like something I should've heard about.

Most of it is what you can see. Beyond that, some variance must be taken into account for the variety of worlds that connect here - one must never assume oneself to be the only of anything.

[Welp. That gets an eyebrow raise.] The worlds can handle that? Heh. You learn something new every day.

This place is capable of it, at least.

[Grouchy Vexen coming through.]

[Alright. On one hand, he doesn't want his rear melted by grumpy scientists, so he thinks tact might be appropriate. On the other... Vexen? Girl? Vexen? What? Is this some experiment he's missed? Trying to ask casually-]

So what's the big deal?

[Vexen looks at him like he's stupid, except because she's a Vexen, and a lot of them do that anyway regardless of the situation, that's hardly abnormal.]

There is none and that's exactly the point.

[She kind of recalls a blue-haired Axel, so she's blatantly assuming knowledge.]

[And in most circumstances, she'd be right to do so. As it is, though, he's just giving her a 'come on' look right back. Yeah, he's used to that look off Vexen. Just not quite... from one looking like that.]

Okay, so it's cryptic answers day, is it?...

Stop me if you've heard this before: Think of it like Traverse Town, only with universes instead of worlds, without the prerequisite of destruction and no choice of when or where you arrive or leave.

[That she's simplifying instead of showing off like the fanciest fucking peacock in the park with the technical language may or may not hint at just how grouchy she is depended on how clued in Axel is to Vexenese.]

[Blink. He might be still assuming that part of the grumpiness is for the wrong reason, but he does get the picture.]

Got to say, that's a new one on me. But yeah. ... Thanks.

[Most of it is actually just because Vexen accidentally skipped a meal... or three and she has far more interesting things she could be doing instead of getting food/eating but kind of really needs to. Admittedly she'd likely be far nastier if he had the traditional red hair.]

Oh, so you can be taught manners?

[He gives a smirk and an arms-stretched shrug.]

Heh. Guess I'm just a gentleman like that.

[Vexen snorts dismissively before making a move to continue her trek to a kitchen.]
