[If one is to enter the beach room today, they will find there is already someone there. Perched happily on one of the rocks is a young woman. Except something is off. Where legs should be, there is, instead, a red and black lionfish-esque tail, curled slightly around the rock to help her balance in place while she stretches toward the sky. Short, black hair styled in spikes reveals her as a Vanitas--which alone would be dangerous. But the tail is a warning sign in itself.

After all, not all mermaids are friendly, and even if Vanitas is distracted, humming to herself as she soaks up some sun, careful not to stay too long there--she doesn't want to dry out--that doesn't mean she won't notice someone approaching on the shore.]

[But will she notice someone approaching from the water?

This mermaid has been here for a while, and she's going to be very cautious in her approach.

After all, she doesn't particularly like the Vanitas from her world. He shows far too much interest in her for her liking :|]

[Not likely! She's watching the shore for, well, food. A lost sailor or a child that's wandered away from home will do. But she's not expecting another mermaid.]

[Especially one who's used to avoiding some of her kind.

However, she's been here for ages, and has grown to like the inhabitants. Which is the only reason she's approaching.]

I haven't seen you before, so I'm going to assume you're new here.

[Fortunately, mermaids in Vanitas' world all care for each other--they're all they have, after all. So she'll just look over.]

I am. Though I awoke on land and had to find this place.

[They do in her world too. But she was still seen as a bit of a weirdo since she wasn't as violent as the others.

...Not as violent. She still can be.

But she still seems relaxed as she rests her arms on a nearby rock and rests her chin on them.]

That sucks. I think there's a river around here that goes through the main areas at least. So if you find yourself inside later, if you stay by the river you should be able to get back here.

[Vanitas slips into the water now, only surfacing because that's where Namine is.]

I'll keep an eye out for it. I dislike being out of the water too long.

[She'd be happy to go underwater. She was only staying above for, well the same reason Vanitas is now.

She moves back from the rock she was leaning on when Vanitas moves into the water. Though she's slightly tense, from her past experiences with her worlds Vanitas. Though this one seems nice enough so far.]

And hey, if there is a river, it means food will be much easier to nab.

[Yeah, her first thought is food, but that's because she hasn't had any yet.]

Can you tell me anything I should know about these waters?

[She actually frowns at that.]

Be careful of the whale. Though it hasn't gone for me yet, it has been known to attack humans..

...There are some people here you should steer clear of as well.

Like?

[That has her attention. To her, "people you should steer clear of" means "mermaid hunters.]

Many of the people here can use magic, and have weapons they can summon. They're dangerous. And attacking the children will make them come after you.

That makes food selection hard. Oh, well. I have my own weapons.

[And down she goes, fins spreading out under the water and showing off the spines through them.]

[She just sighs at that. Shes sure that she won't be able to convince Vanitas any easier than she was able to convince everyone back home. But still..

Goes under as well.]

...There's someone I'd prefer you didn't hurt either. One of the boys, his name is Ven.

...He's a friend of mine. I don't want him hurt.

[Read; she has a crush on him.]

[Wait. Back up.]

...Ventus is a boy?

[Blink.

...Oh right.]

Most of them. This place brings in people from different worlds. Not all of the worlds are entirely the same.

Most of the Ven's I've seen here are boys. I've even seen male versions of me and my sister.

...That'll be strange to deal with.

[She'll swim backwards languidly, trying to imagine her little sister as a boy.]

But don't worry. Ventus is my little sister.

[She finally relaxes at that and just swims along nearby. Oh good.]

Do you eat anything besides humans? Cause a lot of them might be familiar to you knowing this place.

Sharks and fish, sometimes. But humans are the best. We have to eat a lot to keep up enough energy to live.

[In other words: grown human males then become the best choice for prey besides larger sharks and small whales.]

[Well at least there is an alternative.]

Hmm...I really can't point out any easy meals..but I can point out the ones you should avoid at least. I know some of the Riku's are marked by a Siren. But you're different from me, you might be able to defend yourself from her.

[In her world, Sirens are stronger, so she tries not to piss them off.]

The people in black coats are usually dangerous too.

I'll keep that in mind. Though I'm guessing they don't hunt mermaids, they way you're talking.

[Vanitas just outright avoids Sirens.]

Not unless you give them a reason to. My advice would be to target the ones that don't seem to know many people already. That way, no one would want revenge.

...Although..Another thing you should know about this place, is that it sometimes brings back the people who are killed. So they may try to take revenge themselves.

[She's sorry this place sucks sometimes :c]

That just means I'll have to pick carefully. Maybe I'll even find someone suicidal.

[Okay, going to lie down on the sea floor now.]

I guess that's one way to do it. Though I don't think I've seen anyone like that here yet..

She wont lie down. Rather she'll look over some of the underwater plants. She likes the ocean flowers around here.]

...These waters are strange. Even the currents feel strange.

[Vanitas isn't sure she likes this.]

[She frowns sadly at that. She understands missing home.]

It takes some getting used to..
