aprincess is playing on a large playground, wearing an adorable dress. There's all manner of outdoor toys with her, and she's occupying herself blowing bubbles into the wind.

dawnrise is... well, she's not in a dress, but she's not in jeans. It's a black skirt. For once. Before anyone panics, she's wearing a normal t-shirt ~~with Mickey Mouse on it~~, and her legs are covered. They're just covered by thigh highs. She's hanging out in the kitchen, which is piled with a mess of ingredients for pizza.

And then there's this guy.

hallowedshore has been gone for a couple days, but he's back now. He's walking down the hallway headed toward his room, dripping water all over the place. There's a steady trail of it from a nearby shower, and it looks like he took one fully dressed. His expression is blank and he smells unpleasantly of blood (which has stained his clothes), ash, and smoke, but not nearly as much as he did. ]

[well, when he gets there, Inaya's leaning in the open doorway of her own apartment, arms folded. her expression is inscrutable, especially for someone normally so expressive, but her ears are flat against her head. she may be a bit unhappy with you, Aden.]

[He's noticeably surprised to see her, so deep in thought that he hadn't even recognized that she was actually there. He stops walking several feet from her, standing frozen where he is. He looks uncertain, and doesn't even know what to say.]

Nice stockings.

[Very nice. The skirt is nice, too. He'll just be leaning against the doorway.]

Look at how surprised I am that you'd think so.

[Believe it or not by her behavior, she put them on without any help from the DR. She's sweeping mozzarella cheese into her hand from off the counter. She's kind of made a mess.]

[and what if she marches up to him, what then? there's not much left of her wounds except some bruising – the one on her arm is some lovely shades of green and yellow – so she has no trouble at all giving him a good solid slap once she's reached him.]

[That was probably rather loud. He realizes what she's going for when she raises her hand, and only has a split-second to brace himself. It's not much, but he stays tense after, shoulders drawn up and head lowered. He doesn't blame her for that slap at all, and believes he very much deserves it. He feels like a monster.]

[he did deserve it, but she doesn't even lower her arm, instead darting in closer to latch onto him in a tight hug, her head butted up under his chin. she's trembling slightly, though not out of anger.]

You stupid jerk, I was so worried about you.

You definitely seem very surprised.

[He'll make his way in, moving to chill in a chair.]

What brought it on? Not that I'm complaining, clearly.

[He doesn't move, not surprised that she's mad at him, and also not surprised that she's not mad enough that she isn't going to hug him. He doesn't return it yet, keeping his arms firmly at his sides.]

I'm sorry.

[She slows down a little, then shrugs, moving to take the mess to the garbage can.]

They were there, and I felt like it.

[Riku's going to be joined by another Riku. Surprises surprises. He's got his hair in a messy braid today and a couple of dirt smudges on his clothes. He heads straight for the fridge, glancing at her, then pauses before opening the door to glance again.]

Nice outfit.

[A butcher's knife is shaken at him in a halfhearted threat. She doesn't actually mind.]

Nice dirt.

We were all really worried about you. But I'm not mad that you attacked me, just that you were dumb enough to let whatever caused it happen in the first place. Dummy.

[she really isn't all that mad at him, and definitely not as much as she probably should be.]

What are you making?

[Yep, he's totally just going to drop it. Who's he to complain if she wants to wear thigh highs and a skirt??]

[Onoes. Not really scary, actually. He grabs the first juice-looking thing out of the fridge and pushes it closed with one foot.]

Not my fault. What are you making?

Pizza. Want to test your luck? Or make one in your style?

[There's plenty of ingredients still.]

[He's shaking a little too, but eventually his arms come up to wrap her in an even more fierce hug. He feels so fucking guilty, and now he's going to get her all wet.]

I'm so sorry. It was so fucking stupid, you have no idea. You should be way more pissed off.

Pizza. You want some? It won't be finished for a while, but...

[The offer's there.]

Yeah, probably. I should slap you again for getting me into all those zombie movies and games, they're the only reason I had any idea what to do when you went nuts. But you're back, and I'm fine, and you're fine, so it's okay.

[she doesn't even care that her clothes are getting soggy on the front because he was a doof and took a shower in his clothes.]

I'll take some, if it doesn't have any weird side effects.

[That's not a dig at her cooking ability, just general caution.]

[Hey man, he was covered in blood and for once didn't want to walk around like that. He doesn't even feel up to teasing her about that yet, and rolls his eyes a little. She's taking this way too lightly.]

I wasn't a zombie. I had fucking-- parasites in my head. It's not okay. You don't even know what I wanted to do.

You probably just jinxed it.

[She'll try it anyway, because she worked hard on this pizza.]

[here is Aden's 'beloved' older cousin striding down the hallway; Riku is wearing his forging leathers and is somewhat surprised to be running into Aden]

I thought you'd be gone longer.

[Damn. He stops walking and shakes his hair out a little, looking down.]

How long was it?

Wouldn't surprise me. I tend to mess things up by being near them. Maybe I should just stay in my room more often.

[It's probably fine.]
