(no subject)

[Red was overdue for a female switch it seems, as that's what he currently is. Oddly enough, he also has a pair of horns coming out of his skull (though scaled to better fit on a human head, of course), and there are a few bats clinging to them. He's standing in front of a fire that is giving off a whole lot of oddly green smoke, and the whole thing smells sort of sickeningly sweet. What in the hell is he burning?]

[Hey look it's Riku. She's coming up with her shirt pulled up over her nose. From what can be seen of her face, she looks perplexed and somewhat disgusted.]

What are you doing?

Satanic rituals.

[One of the bats is going to flit over to say hello to Riku. Red just grins sharply at her, then turns back to the fire.]

Would you believe it's a funeral pyre?

[Her eyebrows go up, and her head jerks back when the bat comes over. She holds an arm up over her head, and it's free to land on it if it wants. Hell if she knows how his bats work.]

Maybe. Why would you need one?

[She does not know, but she's already watching him when she comes out of a nearby building, heading his way.]

Nothing huge. One of my snakes got loose and ate something she shouldn't have. Pretty sure if I buried her she would have killed all the plantlife in the area while decomposing. This way I was able to toss in a little something that'll make her harmless to the area.

[He's so considerate. The sickeningly sweet smell is all the poison in there, neutralized in such a way that it is absolutely okay to inhale the air around here. Aside from the normal smoke-related health hazards.]

[If he's noticed her, he's not saying anything, of course. Or even looking in her direction at all, just staring into the flames.]

[Yeah, okay, she's back to holding the collar of her shirt up over her nose and mouth, in that case. I mean, she doesn't know if it's okay to breathe it or not. Besides, it smells disgusting.]

Sorry for your loss, then.

[Damn. She's not good at starting conversations, friendly or otherwise. Of course, there's a ninety percent chance this is going to fall into the 'otherwise'.]

What is that?

[He waves a hand, obviously not too broken up about it.]

It happens. I should have made sure her tank was more secure, but whatever.

Which that would you be referring to? If you mean this,

[He gestures to the flames.]

It's called a fire.

[She didn't think he was that upset. It's not really like him. Time for a change of subject.]

Mm... What's with the horns?

[She cuts off abruptly, her attention back on Red.]

Are you a girl?

Found something new in my fridge and gave it a try. Tasted okay, but it gave me these things.

Yep.

[And so calm about it, too. Next thing you know she'll be mentioning his horns!]

It happens occasionally.

Do I want to know what that something was?

For no reason?

[It's bothering her a little, since the Axel she knew was female and all.]

Chocolate.

[Surprised it's not something gross, Riku?]

A while back I may or may not have made something explode that first caused it to happen.

[Aw, poor Roxas. At least Red isn't a Lea? Then it'd probably be even worse.]

[Yes, and she probably looks it. Oops.]

Huh... Can I feel one?

[He lowers his head, which gets a few angry chirps from the bats which one by one flop off into his hood. Go ahead, Riku! They feel just like real horns.]

[She looks more startled by the idea of explosions, but she's not going to push that subject. But since he guessed it--]

Do the horns normally come with it?

[She'll just appear in a flurry of, well, fire, and a dark corridor.]

Lovely horns you've got. [Completely serious and honest, yes.]

Nope, those were from something that appeared in my fridge this morning.

[He doesn't even blink an eye at her appearance. His response is so dry.]

How'd you get 'em? [She's more curious about the horns than the fire or anything else.]
