[Not being a fan of most animals it's rather unusual for Vexen to be lurking around stables, but the hunt for information is hardly going to work around her personal distaste. At least, not without underlings. Which she doesn't have right now.

Just around a corner of the the building, a stalled River and Mountain chocobo takes interest in that long blonde hair and tries to preen it.

Vexen steps back to observe the huge black chocobo.

The chocobo just tilts it's head.]

Now aren't you a great ugly brute.

[Said chocobo, looking quite obviously offended, warks loudly at her. Puffing out it's feathers and lunging forward as much as it's closed stall will allow. While not necessarily an attack, it certainly startled Vexen enough to make her jump back a bit.

God does she hope no one saw that...]

Children start as little sociopaths and have to learn/develop not to be. You need emotion and this development to comprehend others feel pain or to see anything wrong with others feeling pain.
It'd not be sadistic at all, it would be complete and utter childish curiosity and want coupled with the complete absence of emotion/emotional comprehension to understand there being anything wrong with just taking.]

Someone already in possession of the muscle and the brain connections could feasibly grasp it with the speed of new born ungulate. Which is to say it'd could be just a matter of minutes.]

We began research on hearts and darkness. Took test subjects from the towns people. The king found out, we removed him from power and installed one of our number in his place. Then the experiments left our control and virtually consumed our world. We lost our hearts and began again on a new world.

From there we formed an organization with a terribly creative name and researched our condition and possible cures. Or intended to, most shifted their focus to bolstering heartless population and creating others of our rather unique condition while Zexion and myself spent our time doing something useful.
