[Recent events have left a lot of flotsam cluttering the Destiny Islands beach over here, and the wind's blowing the waves into spray.

And sitting on a barrel over here, we have Xeha, gazing thoughtfully out over the waters. What's happened lately has been playing pretty heavily on his mind... These things come and go. But it's all shaken his confidence a little.

So, for the moment, the kid's taking it easy.]

Yeah. Went on about 'the balance of light and dark' - which, okay, could make sense, if he wasn't saying it from the middle of a bunch of Heartless? [He shakes his head.]

[Ooh, an opportunity!]

Balance is good. But like you said, not when it brings such harm to people.

[He raises an eyebrow.] You think so? I - thought you wouldn't be a fan of the idea...

Everyone has both Light and Darkness in them. It's natural. But, there are bad people in the worlds, and they will use Darkness in a bad way.

But, like with many things, having a balance of Light and Darkness can be helpful. Just as long as you dont use either inappropriately.

Think about it. There are plenty of people here who use Darkness who aren't bad people. In fact, many of the Riku's use both, and they're some of the most powerful I've seen, while still fighting for good.

[He nods, slowly.]

I've seen enough of Darkness being used wrong to last me a lifetime. And it was someone dark who pulled me out of the mess... I just - it makes sense, but I've never seen what good it can do! Darkness itself. Not a good person who just happens to be dark.

What good did Light do then, before it was channeled by good people?

[Think on that for a bit.]

[He pauses, frowns. Hrm. Good point, Aqua.]

Has Light ever been used to destroy worlds?

Hm...Well, I heard a story once. That there was a time when the worlds were all joined together, and were whole. There was Light everywhere.

But, eventually, people started to fight over the Light. They all wanted it all for themselves.

Darkness was born in their hearts from that desire, and the worlds were consumed.

It was people wanting the Light to themselves, that started it all.

[He nods as he listens.] I think I heard that once, myself... ages ago. But that's not Light doing it, it's people... but I guess that's kind of the point? That it's always just people? And Light can drive people crazy in different ways to Darkness?

[Nods.]

Exactly. A person can succumb to Light just as easily as a person can succumb to Darkness. It's important not to allow that to happen. Light will help you to escape the deepest Darkness, and Darkness will help you to see through the brightest Light.

[...Smiles, losing the serious tone for a moment.]

Of course, I'm not saying you should use Darkness. I know that the temptation and power can be too much for some people. Especially when you're young. I'm just saying to keep an open mind about it. Don't think that it's completely bad just because of the reputation a few bad people have given it.

Yeah. I - I think that even if balance is a good thing, I'm best sticking on the light side of it for now. I mean... [he sighs.] I'm a Xehanort, after all. I'm under no illusions what that means. [Heh.]

Right. Just keep an open mind. That's all I ask. Succumbing to Light can be just as dangerous as succumbing to Darkness. I dont want to see that happen to you.

[He nods, smiles.] Okay. An open mind. I can do that.

[Grins.]

Good.

[Stands up and dusts herself off.]

Now. How has your training been going?

[Have you been practicing, mister? :|]

[It takes him a second to re-engage his brain on more conventional subjects of conversation.]

Oh! Uh, mostly okay? I think my blocks are getting better, at least.

Oh good! Now we can move on to barriers.

[No she is not ever going to go easy on you with this training ever.]

Huh? [He gives a grin. New stuff!] Okay, cool! Where do we start?

Well first, how good are you at controlling your Magic and your Light?

Magic - mm, I've got a few spells? Second-tier things, really.I'm not bad at aiming and focusing attack spells. Light on its own... I don't know. I've not really tried much as far as controlling it itself goes?

Hm. Well, a barrier is pretty much using your magic, or your Light, to create a shield between yourself and your opponent. Light based barriers can be more effective in some cases. But for now, we'll stick with the normal one.

[A nod.] Got it. That sounds good.

[Less having to rely on Guardian's always a plus, he thinks.]

Okay. I want you to imagine creating a wall in between you and me. It's very strong, and it will protect you. I want you to focus very hard on it.

[He nods, holds out a hand, and with a look of concentration on his face, focuses on the air in front of him. Strength... solidity... something there...]

[Oh I hope that Fire that just flew by your head doesn't distract you though.

She's not aiming for him. Just near him. Just adding that little bit of danger that helps with the defensive instincts.]

Kyah-!

[He makes a face and gives it another go, trying to recall the feeling of casting a spell and push it out through his fingertips... something new, not something granted.
He has to do this.]
