[there's a nice little den-type room near the main area that's currently occupied by one (1) Kai and several books. there's a small pile on the right side of his chair and a smaller pile on the left; the ones on the left have paper scraps sticking out of them in quite a few places, acting as bookmarks. Kai is, oddly, upside-down in his chair, his legs thrown up and over the back and his head hanging off the seat cushion. he's reading, concentrating quite a bit on the book in his hands (also upside-down, naturally). there's a large, half rolled up piece of paper next to the books on the left of his chair. a pencil and eraser are keeping it from rolling up completely. on the paper? a drawing of a heart in a circle, which is inside another circle. between the outer circle and inner circle are a few quick, scribbled Heartless with question marks around them.

what is he doing? who the hell knows!]

[there is a rather sleepy-looking Sora headed your way in his pajamas, despite it not being morning. he stops when he sees Kai, his head tilting to the side when he realizes there's feet in the air.]

Nnh?

[feet in purple and blue stripy socks! Kai's concentrating too much to notice someone else there just yet.]

[those feet are actually all he sees at this angle. he steps closer, and after a moment of staring, Kai will feel a finger running across the bottom of one foot.]

[which makes him spaz and drop his book and pull his feet down.]

Hey!

[there's a very Sora-sounding chuckle before his head pops up over the back of the chair to look down at Kai. now he's sleepy and amused.]

Sorry, but it was too tempting not to.

That was a little rude.

[normally he would have been fine with it, but right now he's pouting. he was busy.]

*Sora's peeking his head in the door, blinking -- he kindasortamaybe wants to come in, but he sees that you're really busy and actually hesitates; you probably can hardly sense him since his Light is very, very low*

[but he can sense it, and the fact that it's low has him worried and immediately putting the book down and trying to turn upright without falling out of the chair.]

Sora-?

*his voice is quiet, even shy when you acknowledge him*

Whatcha doing?

Trying to figure out something that maybe I'm not supposed to.

[he looks concerned by that, getting out of the chair to move toward Sora.]

Is something wrong?

O-oh, you don't have to get up. I was just... popping in.

*and here's a novel concept, he's not even going to make you work for thirty-someodd tags to pry it out of him*

I feel... dim.

*he figures you know he doesn't mean 'stupid'*

[of course he knows; he can feel it. and he pulls Sora into a hug (as long as he doesn't fight it).]

Any idea why?

*he doesn't fight it as he shrugs, because you feel warm - you know that he's a cuddly sort*

... oh, I forgot to ask what you're trying to figure out.

[well there will be many cuddles.]

Just... why there's all that darkness around Kingdom Hearts. Not the one that Xemnas made, of course, the one behind the door.

I can feel the imbalance. It feels... yucky. I wonder what it's feeding off of.

*he's kind of low energy and maybe leans a little because you are warm and Light*

[he really isn't explaining it right and just brings out more Light to give Sora a hug with that, too.]

No idea. Now is there anything wrong? Anything at all? You know I'll listen if you need to talk.

Maybe it's just because of... everything that's happened.

*shakes his head*

Maybe it's just me. I dunno. Are you okay?

*regarding your other question*

I dunno. I guess I'm lonely.

I'm alright. And I'm sorry you're lonely. We need to spend more time together. Maybe a sleepover is in order.

*he feels kinda stupid and... looks up at you*

... can we sit for a minute? My legs feel wobbly.

*mostly because he's been in bed all day*

[he will lead him to a small, cushy couch near where he'd been 'sitting'.]

*he happily curls up on one side of the couch, but he will probably invade your personal space for your Light again in no time ;;*

... um. Do you know this... Vexen? Even? I don't know. He has like... fox ears?

[well he'll sit nearby for just that reason. he frowns thoughtfully, but nods; he knows of most of the people in the DR by now.]

I think so. Not personally, but...

Mmm. Well... he's been farming Riku Replicas to eat.

*it shouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why this bothers him*

[he looks ill at that, going pale.]

That's... horrible. Farming them? How exactly...?

*he looks quite pale too, which looks bad on Soras in general*

In the tube thingies in the lab. He's... growing them in there like clones, and... eating them when they're ready.

*he has to close his eyes when the picture pops into his head*

He had one on one of those... stretcher things. It was... completely destroyed, and there was blood everywhere and it had his face.
