(no subject)

[ Aden's feeling pretty down lately, not that you could tell. But this is the first time he's really spent Christmas without his parents. As far as he knows, the younger set (not the youngest set-- the future set that's part of his past) still don't know about them, and he wants to keep it that way.

So he's making due with Christmas his own way. Starting with a delightful assortment of chocolate coated insects. They're very large and drizzled with stripes of white chocolate dyed deep red and green, and most of them are not easily recognizable as insects. In fact, he's slipped a few (wrapped in cling wrap and tied with green ribbon) into the more 'normal' candy dishes around the place. They're also very crunchy, as made clear when he loudly bites into one.

And yes, he's wearing an apron. Those red stains are exactly what you think they are. ]

Aden?

[Desi pokes her head in and looks at him curiously. This is her first Christmas without her parents too so if you wanna commiserate, feel free.]

What're you doing?

[She meanders over to watch, leaning against the counter with her chin resting in her hand.]

[No thank you. He'll continue to be his cheerful disgusting self. What he says will come out slightly muffled, what with his mouth being full and all.]

Decorating.

Oh okay...do you want me to get some more stuff out for you?

[She's going to try to get over the disgusting stuff you do by sticking around and helping.]

Those bugs?

Nah, I've got everything I need.

[The different types of chocolate coating, some sprinkles if he feels like he needs more sugar. He holds one up to her. It kind of looks like a cookie.]

Do they look like bugs?

[Correct answer: it depends on the type. Some of them look like ordinary chocolates!]

Uh, some of them, maybe.

[He's familiar with bugs. He was the type of kid who used to drop them down the backs of girls shirts when he was younger. And Austin's shirt too.]

Ah...sure...

[Might as well, that's one of her goals not to get freaked out by anything he does anymore. So taking the cookie, sure.]

Then they are.

[They would have gotten along spectacularly. Aden was always fond of slipping the slimier ones with massive teeth into his friends' bedrooms. When he wasn't eating them.]

[It's chunky enough that it could possibly pass as an oatmeal or chocolate chip chunk of cookie! Go on, dig in.]

[She looks it over for a bit then noms.]

Any good? I dont think I've tried actually eating them before.

[But hey, he'll try anything once.

Ah, that must have been glorious. They have to share stories one day.]

[oh hey guess what HAIR RUFFLE TIMES.]

I was wondering when I'd run into you.

[Hopefully she didn't get one of the ones with internal slimies.]

I think they're fantastic.

[And he's going to offer him one to see if he thinks the same. Yes yes, they must.]

[Screeeeeeee. Aden looks up with some surprise he's trying to keep hidden, blinking owlishly at him.]

[Takes it with a smile.]

[He is disgusted by very little. Nom.]

..Hey, not bad.

[Yo dude, we can hate Christmas together! Austin's more worried about the downiness coming from him, so how about a distraction from another downer?]

... hey.

Did you really think you could hide forever?

[never mind what hiding he's done in the past. he's giving you that oh-so-knowing look, the one that could possibly get him mistaken for Santa.]

[Yes she did but she forces herself to finish the thing, that is going to be one of her New Years resolutions, to not be so grossed out by you anymore.]

...Not bad...

[She goes to get a glass of water, making a face when she's sure he isn't looking.]

Oh, hey - you're doing candies? Didn't think you were the type...

Oh?

[He's not laughing on the outside, but he certainly is on the inside. Just look at that wicked smirk. He knows exactly what she got, after all.]

Help yourself.

[He gestures to the assortment. There are plenty, even now.]

No, but I knew I could try.

[Stop that, he hates that look.]

[He has a hard time hating Christmas, since his mom tried her best to make sure he didn't loathe it with all of his being, but! He raises an eyebrow at that downcast greeting, looking over at Austin as he wipes some green chocolate off on that apron.]
