it's christmastime in the city

[You know those big fancy Christmas displays that pop up in malls around this time of year? One of the common rooms has been taken over by one of those. If the ceiling wasn't high enough for oddly festive giraffes before, it is now. Cheerful holiday music plays over unseen speakers.

At the center of it all, of course, is "Santa." In this case, "Santa" means a rotund moogle in a red suit, wearing a fake beard nearly long enough for him to trip over. While there's probably a Christmas Town room around here somewhere, the real Santa is too busy for this.]

Fun fact: I don't remember that particular display, but I've been to that mall many times. Going the day after Christmas wasn't my best idea in retrospect.))

[Portals would be more convenient, but they usually scare Akane into a tantrum and calming her down is too much bother. Larxene's avoided most of the mistletoe by taking the new trains instead, and when she and her daughter step off of this one it's into rather a different scene than she expected.

Akane excitedly babbles and points at the animal statues.]

[Seven year old boy who is standing nearby when you step off looks over upon hearing your voice. His eyes immeadiatly are drawn to Akane. Because even though she's a lot smaller than he is, it's a fellow child and that makes him happy. And he's anything but shy.]

Hi. I'm Myde. What's your name? Did you come to see Santa too?

["Santa?" Akane asks, wide-eyed.]

Santa isn't real.

[Someone's never been to Christmas Town.]

Since when is Santa a moogle?

[Akane looks where he's pointing. "Is teddy?"]

Santa can look like anything. 'Cuz he's magic.

I don't think "teddy" wants to come with you, Akane.

[Unfortunately, fifteen minutes is plenty of time for her to get away. Akane's only two, it's not hard for Larxene to pick her up if she doesn't cooperate.]
