[ Dark tendrils sprout from the dressing room floor, right in the middle of the hall. Though at first they're small, with each passing moment they increase in side, twisting and curling and spreading across the ground.

Soon, the figure of a boy materializes amidst the darkness. From the dark armor that covers his body to the metal piece of a helmet, it should be pretty clear who this boy is. Indeed, another Vanitas has arrived, although this one looks worse for wear.

The visor of his helmet is gone, and his breathing is faint. At first glance, he might appear dead or at least comatose, but no. He's just unconscious, for better or worse.

So what do you do? Kick him? Wake him up? Get the hell out of there? There are so many options. ]

[And where there's darkness, there is light, a bright flash bursting in the far end of the room. It's just a sphere of illumination that lasts for little more than an instant before something crashes into a coffee table with a loud thud]

Ow...

[That voice is weary, hoarse even, as a blond boy picks himself up stiffly from the ruined remains of furniture. Blearily he looks around, but upon seeing that boy not far away, he freezes as though there's a cobra nose-to-nose with him]

But I just-

[His voice breaks there, and he says nothing more]

[ His eyes snap open, and he immediately gets to his feet in spite of the fatigue. ]

[ He takes a few deep breaths before turning to Ventus with a nasty smirk. ]

And here I thought this was the end. I'm almost disappointed, Ventus.

Almost because it means you couldn't finish me. You went on and on about your friends, and what's there to show for it?

[ That frown just adds to his amusement. Silly Ventus. ]

[There's a subtle shift of weight, as he's half-expecting an attack even now]

[ In a flash, Void Gear materializes in his hand. Not quite what he'd hoped for, but it'll have to do. With his weapon at the ready, he darts at Ven. Incoming! ]

[And Ven jumps aside, pillars of light radiating out around him. Enjoy that Faith spell, Vanitas]

[ GUH!

He takes the hit, but immediately counters by teleporting above Ven, doing that nasty counterattack of his.]

[Oh no, time to summon Ultima and make use of dodge roll]

[ Hah! Well, how about that dashing move of his? The horrible one from his final battle? ]

[How about Mine Squares? Scads of Mine Squares, all over the place, while Ven jumps away because he's really not interested in getting too close to Vanitas]

[ Not the mine squares! Dammit. Stupid magic that his Master neglected to teach him!

But he'll just sink into the ground. You're in trouble now! ]

[He hates that attack, really, really hates it. So he's back to using dodge rolls because there's not much else to do about Vanitas when he's somewhere down there]

[ Soon, he resurfaces in a burst of flames! Have fun, Ven! ]

[Ow, that's such a cheap move. Thankfully Ven's got Curaga handy. And then he's unleashing Faith again with another burst of light]

[ Cheap. Very cheap.

Well, he might as well do that nasty crescent blade attack and then jump back a bit. ]

[Hope he doesn't land on another Mine Square, Ven was using those pretty liberally while he was running around]

[...Ow, yeah. He hits the mine square.

Hits it and proceeds to launch some thundaga his way. ]

[Ven attempts to dodge but well. Keyblades are surely metal and that jolt goes right up his arm, earning a pained cry, voice breaking again. Still, he's not dropping that weapon for all it hurts.

And he's tossing a blizzaga spell in return]

[This time he does manage to dodge, retaliating with a firaga. He doesn't stop there, though; instead, Vanitas does that dash move again. ]

[At least Ven's quick on his feet, scrambling away and depositing more Mine Squares on the floor as he goes. This room is getting ruined, without a doubt]

[ Geez, he's got basically no room to move like this.

All he can do at this point is keep sinking into the ground, and even then emerging could lead to unnecessary explosions.]

[That's the point, really. Ven's pretty sure he's not in proper form to fight, despite the use of Curaga. Something's...off.

And he'd rather not let Vanitas have the chance to figure it out]

[Well, he's going to keep trying to hit him with that seeking attack of his until he tires out. Vanitas is stubborn to a fault, after all.]

[Which leaves Ven continuing to flee and drop mines in the hope that Vanitas'll give up on this pursuit.

Fat chance, but he can try]

[He's too stubborn to just give up. Instead, he'll try to get as much damage on Ven as he can, in spite of his own injuries.]

[And Ven will use Faith, which restores his health anyhow. Good for him, bad for Vanitas]

[Yeah, bad is right! He is starting to get a bit tired, but that doesn't stop him from unleashing more thundaga.]

[ His attention was caught by the darkness, and then when the boy dropped in, he was almost obligated to go see what had happened to him. And then...

There was something very familiar about his face. ]

[Well, he's not moving or anything right now. Sora's free to come closer if he wants.]

[ That he will. He'll come right over and stand next to his head and just stare at Vanitas in a mix of surprise and curiosity.

After a minute, he tries to touch Vanitas' face. ]

[He opens his eyes, but for whatever reason, they look...blank. Glazed over. He's not fully alert yet, either.]

[ Sora jumps, hand retreating until he's sure Vanitas won't get mad. Once he sees how Vanitas looks half-asleep, he reaches down to poke him in the cheek. ]

Are ya okay, mister?
