[Layla's just chilling, today; hanging out in a comfy main room, with a bag of candies and a notebook. One of her attempts at literature.
She flips through it, forward, back, frowns. Hm. She was sure she'd written things that she can't seem to find in here... didn't her ~~blatant self insert~~ protagonist have a sister before? Not a page. Not a single word.]

This is just weird...

[and Sora, of course, is not startled at all by this. she'll just go through books, skimming the contents of any that look like they might be remotely helpful.]

[Layla's working her way up and down the ranks, multi-tasking, scanning books herself with one set of hands and carrying the interesting ones with the other. Hm, couple of promising texts, at least.]

[honestly, Layla's more likely to find a decent protection spell, what with the whole multi-tasking thing.]

[Well, at least it comes in useful for something...]

[Sora thinks Layla's Heartless form is pretty. :(]

[Could've come out a lot worse, that's for sure. And not her fault 'genetics' did - whatever they did in their cases... she dumps her first load of books on a table, and shifts back to settle into a chair.]

I found two books that might have something, I didn't check too far into them yet.

Oh, okay! I've got a few here... I'm going to take a look.

Alright, I'll check through these ones, then!

[She starts flipping her way through the pages. Augh, so much detail... the first one definitely isn't Protective Magic For Dummies. Even less for twelve-year-olds, even with curious minds.]

[Sora's not having much luck with the understanding bits either, but at least one of her books seems to be an introduction to magic!]

Hm. I think I've found something, but the book keeps going on about force patterns and leylines and resonance and I don't get what it has to do with anything...

...that just sounds really confusing.

Tell me about it. [She laughs.] The spell itself sounds like it would be the kinda thing I'd need, but it gets all ... technical. I can't understand a word of it.

Well, this one looks like it's talking about the basics! But I dunno how far until it actually gets to something you'd be able to use...

Yeah... and I've never really had to learn spells before, you know? The magic I do is just - stuff that's there... you know more about learning it than me.

Maybe, but it was never really stuff like this.

Yeah. Good point. This is like - spells from scratch. Not ready to use.

Yeah... I bet we could figure it out eventually. But that doesn't really help for right now.

[She closes the book, sighs.]

Don't worry, we'll find something. And if we don't, I'm sure we could ask around for ideas!

Good point. It's not like it's that big a rush, either... it's just kind of annoying.

Nah, it's kind of a big deal. I mean, this place is taking stuff away from you! That's just not fair.

[Aww. She looks a bit embarrassed, almost, seeing Sora get this protective about it.]

So we'll look through a few more books, then go and give hugs, and then maybe ask around about this whole thing.
