Well... I guess I can give you some tips. It took awhile for little Ienzo to trust me, but he's got megaproblems to deal with.

Be honest, for one. Also, kids can tell when you don't actually wanna be around them, or don't actually care. You just have to be... really patient and interested.

... bribing with candy is also good.

Candy does seem to go farther in the whole bribery of children thing. As long as you don't have a white van.

What's wrong with that? Just tell the kid you're concerned and want to watch out for him. I mean, I tell all the kids I know that I look after them, and they have no problem with it.

Yup. Just keep showing up around the kid, until he gets used to you. Check up. Ask if the kid ate or if they slept fine, stuff like that. Eventually, the kid realizes you're not being a creeper and genuinely care.
