[in one of the laundry rooms, Sora is sitting against a wall with her legs pulled up to her chest, arms folded over her knees and chin resting on her arms. she's sullenly watching the washer at work, a full basket of more dirty laundry sitting next to it. her room was hit hard by the flood, and most of what she could salvage was just clothing. the books she'd gathered from the library were gone, as were the random little items she'd gotten to make her room seem less... empty. so much for that, as her room is a mostly empty, soggy mess right now.]

[he's here for much the same reason, though the clothes aren't actually his own. when he sees a Sora he almost drops the basket in surprise; if it were full of his own clothes he very well might have and come back after Sora had finished. he is very much not looking at Sora when he hurries past.]

[she looks a little surprised at the reaction, but doesn't speak up. she is, however, watching him curiously. that wasn't something she expected.]

[he seems to be going out of his way to avoid making eye contact, or even looking directly at her. not that he's realized this Sora is a girl yet. he's afraid that it may be the Sora from his own world.]

[the way he's acting just makes her more curious and she sits up a bit, sounding a little concerned. and a lot female.]

Are you okay?

[he almost fumbles the soap at the sound of her voice, and the look he's giving her is more than a little disbelieving. he hasn't seen a female Sora before. he seems to be struggling with a response, and is ultimately unable to lie to her.]

... No.

Oh...

[she pushes herself up, but doesn't move from her spot, looking even more concerned at his answer.]

Um, anything I can do to help?

[why are you making that face at him. it makes him avert his eyes as soon as he sees it.]

I don't think so.

...okay.

[she'll look away, too, in that case, feeling a little down. it's obvious something's wrong and she caused it... somehow... but she can't help.]

[he can't help stealing glances at her from the corner of his eye, shifting from one foot to the other as he closes the lid on the washer.]

It... It isn't anything you've done.

...oh. But, the way you reacted to seeing me...?

[Avani's dragging in two baskets, one of her clothes and the other of her brother's. Setting them on the counter, she starts sorting them by colors, glancing over at Sora a bit as she does.]

[Sora attempts to shoot Avani a friendly smile and succeeds fairly well, even if she sounds a bit glum.]

Oh, I was fine during that horrible spell. Just wet all the time. I'm so glad that everything is normal now and I can use a hairdryer.

I hope not! I didn't see any but now there's no water and if there were sharks they'd be flopping in a hallway and that would be sad.
