[ Riku has spent the past day since the flood started keeping an eye out for anyone in danger. Storms and floods are nothing new to her, thanks to growing up on her islands, and the situation has been almost... comforting. Dealing with a disaster she knew exactly how to handle. She knew when this started that there were plenty of people who wouldn't know what to do in this kind of situation, plenty of kids, and plenty of people who wouldn't know how to swim. It's kept her pretty busy, which has kept her distracted from the ever-present worry over why her favorite kid has gone missing.

Unfortunately, with the two combined, she hasn't slept more than a couple catnaps since Wednesday morning. Which would explain why she's nodding off as she drifts down the hall, curled unsteadily on a giant inflatable paopu. It's kind of cute. ]

[her paopu will be gently bumped from behind by a wooden chair that's riding low in the water, with an unconscious Roxas tangled in it. he has a nasty-looking lump on his forehead, and is much paler than usual.]

[It's enough to jar her awake, and one of her arms falls into the water, which helps. She's still lying down, but grabs the chair from where she is.]

Roxas?

[he doesn't stir, not even a twitch of his fingers. most of him is in the water, the only thing keeping him from sliding into it fully being the way his right arm is hooked in the slats of the chair's back.]

Roxas.

[She pulls herself up on her elbows, reaching over with her other hand to grab his face, tapping it semi-gently.]

[nope, no response! he is breathing at least, deep and steady through his open mouth.]

Roxas, wake up.

[She's losing some of that gentleness, moving her hand to shake his shoulder. The one not with the arm in the chair.]

[that gets a soft groan, his face scrunching up a bit before he drifts off again.]

[Better than nothing. She's... hm. The paopu's big, but she's not sure if pulling Roxas over with her would put them at risk for sinking a bit or not. The water's pretty deep here... She'll try shaking him again first.]

[his eyes crack open when he's shaken again, breath hitching before he coughs, an instant later looking like he's nearly ready to cry.]

Nnn...

[She's sitting up normally by this point, holding onto the chair and Roxas with both hands more firmly.]

Roxas, can you hear me?

[the hand not caught in the chair is moving to his head as he nods, closing his eyes tight again.]

My head hurts.

[Right, hang on, she's rolling right off of that paopu and disappearing underwater with a splash.]

[the splashing sound has him cracking an eye open again, looking around blearily.]

Riku?

[She surfaces on the opposite side of the paopu, closer to him, and tries to keep them both steady.]

Crawl onto the float. I'll get you somewhere safe.

[he nods, but it takes him a few tries to work his arm out from the chair. it's half-numb and has deep pressure marks when he finally manages it, but he's still clinging to the chair, not letting it go.]

You'll catch me if I slide off, won't you? I can't swim...

I'll catch you. Promise.

[She smiles a little, looking tired, but very sure of herself. Go on, Roxas.]

[that's good, because his coordination is a little off. he does fumble a little, but manages to pull himself onto the float. as soon as he's settled he drops his head down to rest on it, his skin having gone ashen at all the movement. he almost looks ready to cry again, his hand returning to his head.]

[She'll push the chair away and start pulling the float after her, thinking hard about where somewhere above water-level would be.]

What happened to you?

I was in the kitchen.. the window had water outside, that's all I remember.

[he closes his eyes again, slowly curling in on himself. his head is throbbing and he feels like any moment he'll be sick.]

[She can imagine the rest on her own. Well. That's not good.]

I'll get you some place dry in no time. Just hang on.

[Would he freak if she cast a Cure on him?]

[he's not in much shape to freak out over much of anything right now. he nods in response, then immediately regrets it.]

I think I'm going to be sick.

Aim for the water.

[She's going to wait and see if he will be sick immediately before she does first.]

[but he doesn't want to moooove. he seems to be doing better when he starts breathing shallowly through his mouth, keeping his eyes closed. he doesn't even try to reply to her.]

[Then she will wait a few more seconds before pausing in dragging the float along to hit him with a Cure.]

[he sucks in a breath at the feeling, and the knot on his head has grown smaller and less angry-looking. some of the color starts to slowly return to his face as well, and after a few more moments he cautiously opens his eyes to look at her, his expression full of wonder.]

I think I just got touched by an angel, Riku.
