On the calendar there are, as there usually are on calendars, days. There is, however, one day in particular that seems to be holding her attention, and that day is today.]

[The gesture made her glance over at him, surprised-- just being in this place reminded her so clearly of a time when touch was a bad thing. The next instant she remembered herself, and gave him an almost weak smile.]

[She took a deep breath that she hoped he didn't hear before pushing open he gate with her free hand.]

[She didn't dare look at his expression. When she took a step forward, a tiny amount of the dust on the floor stirred. She didn't look at all shocked to find the place in such a condition.]
