[this central room in the DR is normal, at first glance. however if you're walking through it you might feel the drip of something warm and wet landing on you. it's red, and more drops will slowly follow to seep into the floor. looking up will reveal a much more jarring scene.

Riku is hanging limply by his arms from the rafters, ropes of pure darkness wrapped around his arms and across his mouth in a gag. his chest is covered in slowly congealing blood, the cuts there bared by his open vest. to his left side is an even more gruesome wound, blood still flowing sluggishly from where he was stabbed to soak into his jeans. the whole left side of them is soaked with blood, and it's slowly starting to drip from his foot to the floor.

looking closer, the cuts over his chest form the words, "KAI WAS HERE".]

[is heading back from the kitchen (mealtime for himself and the baby) when he smells the blood, and spots the bloodied Riku well before most people would. he tucks Inaya close to his chest with one hand so she doesn't bounce around, and gets the hell over there. the baby sling gets shifted around to his back for the moment, and then he aims a couple of focused fireballs at the darkness, reaching up to catch Riku and lower him gently to the floor.]

[he's out cold, his skin clammy and lips faintly blue. he wasn't able to breathe very well hanging like that, and even now his breathing is shallow. the fall broke open some of the scabs that were forming, including the one at his side where he was stabbed, to start the bleeding heavier than before.]

[curses under his breath and presses his hand to the stab wound to stem the bleeding, and tugs the sling back around; as a new parent, in this place, he's understandably paranoid about having his child snatched away from him. but! he also keeps a couple of potions tucked in the sling for emergencies! he parks himself on his ass right there next to Riku and uncorks a hi-potion with his teeth. Riku does appear to be down for the count, which is just as well, since it's going to sting like a bitch when the potion gets poured over the wound. :Db]

[he doesn't even stir, though the blood flow slows immediately as the wound hastens toward healing. the skin is still red around the area, and Axel might notice that Riku's shoulders look decidedly unnatural the way they're bent.]

[yes, well, that makes him gnaw on his lip a little in thought, because on the one hand, Kai is still better at dealing with injuries, but on the other hand, dislocations/breaks/fractures shouldn't be moved if at all possible. he'll just. scoot toward Riku's head, and get himself positioned to pop the closest arm back into its socket. better stay unconscious, Riku, this'll hurt. he puts one hand on Riku's shoulder and the other on his upper arm, and then pushes hard, and back in it goes, with a sick crunching sound.]

[he twitches a bit as the first shoulder is adjusted, his brow furrowing a bit, but he doesn't wake up.]

[lets out the breath he'd been holding anxiously, and moves to fix the other one. then it'll be another potion over the smaller cuts, and then possibly more first aid if Riku's awake by then. :< but yes, other shoulder, pushing, crunching sound, etc.]

[there's a pained gasp from him, quickly followed by a pitiful sound as Riku is forced awake from that. his eyes are dull from the pain and unseeing, his heart beating faster in panic.]

Shh, just relax, I'm not him. Where does it still hurt?

[uncorks another potion and keeps a hand pressed to Riku's shoulder to keep him lying down, and carefully pours the potion over the smaller cuts on his chest, figuring that's a given for what still hurts.]

[he freezes, hissing in a breath as the potion sinks in. the question goes right over his head as he turns toward the voice, still breathing rapidly. he's lost a lot of blood, but the potion helps somewhat.]

...you can't see. I'm an Axel, and I'm pretty familiar with the asshole who did this to you.

[babby is stirring a little from her post-meal coma, and is making some quiet contented noises to herself (just to add to Riku's confusion).]

[just the mention of who did this makes Riku flinch, though he's too weak to do much more than that. he's having trouble putting together how he got to this point, the last thing he remembers being having been in incredible pain. the sounds of a baby so near really is confusing, making his heart lurch at the thought of what could happen were 'Kai' to show up again.]

[he registers that as a fairly large drop in chakra/energy/whatever, and immediately moves to Riku's feet, taking both of them and propping them up in the crook of his elbow. the baby gets some petting sort of action from Axel's free hand, and she burbles a little more enthusiastically.]

You're probably in shock from the pain, so just focus on deep breaths for a couple of minutes, okay? I'm not gonna hurt you, and even if he's still in the area, he should know better than to mess with me, so I doubt he'll come back.

[She nearly screams when the dripping makes her look up, covering her mouth instead. Once she's had a second to get her mind back together, she's rushing up the ice stairs she's just made to reach him. How she's going to get him down though, she's not sure yet.]

[he doesn't respond. from how close she is now, she'll be able to see how his lips are tinged blue from shock, his breathing shallow and skin pale. his arms also appear strangely shaped at the shoulder where they've been pulled from the sockets, the area swollen. if she were to try getting him down, the darkness holding him up wouldn't put up more resistance than real rope.]

[Oh good. In that case, a few well aimed icicles should cut him loose, and she's carefully lowering him down with an icy platform until they're back on the floor. Next step, getting out her emergency potion supply.]

[careful is good. the cuts across his chest are slowly starting to scab over, but the stab wound to his side lets loose a faster flow of blood at the movement, staining the ice. he still hasn't woken up.]

[the blood stops as the potion is poured over it, new skin forming in a thin layer over it. thankfully the knife used had a small blade. his breathing is speeding up now that it's easier to do so without his arms pulled up over his head, pulse fluttering rapidly.]

[The shoulder dislocation problem she's not sure how to deal with, unfortunately. She does feel around the swollen area gingerly, trying to figure out how to help without causing him immense pain.]

[it'll feel somewhat squishy where it's normally hard to the touch, as the bone that's usually there has shifted. even Riku would have a vague idea what to do, were he awake. it'll hurt either way, especially as he's starting to stir awake.]

[As unsure as she is, she figures it's best to go ahead and fix it before it gets worse. When she speaks in the hope he can hear her, it's a quiet, gentle voice.]

[his eyes open a little at the sound of her voice, and his attempt to move is quickly aborted when a flare of pain runs down his side, making him gasp.]
