in every corner

[there's a scream from down this hallway as some poor soul is consumed by the shadows -- not Heartless, simply moving shadows. as the last dying gurgle escapes the writhing mass, a figure rises out of it slowly, darkness rolling and dripping off him like smoke and water. the figure is fully dressed in dark leather; heavy boots, pants, and a lovely leather jacket with a black wifebeater beneath it. he breathes the darkness in, out, a slow and dangerous smile making its way onto his face as he takes in the sight of the hallway. a hand goes to his pocket, a cigarette is pulled out and put to his lips, lit with a flick of his other hand. he runs that hand through his dark blue hair afterward, red eyes bright with malicious intent.]

Well now... didja miss me, dressing room?

[well, if you're going to be like that... darkness surges up, wrapping around Sora's hands and forcing them away from the door; they're now trapped, and good luck holding onto anything like that.]

Now go. Your hands will be free when you get somewhere with something you can stab Kai with. And you will do it, or both your life and his will become a whole lot more miserable.

[he looks utterly miserable as he obediently starts heading for the nearest kitchen. as he's turning the corner he looks back to see if 'Kai' is going to follow him. Maybe if he doesn't, Sora can get someone to help him somehow.]

[Sora will see 'Kai' sink into the floor in a mass of shadow... which promptly heads along the floor after him.]

[he saw that, growing even more depressed when he realizes anyone he might ask for help with that... thing following him around, might end up with yet another person getting hurt.

when he reaches the kitchen, he'll head straight to the wooden block of sharp knives on the counter, choking back a sob as he's unable to keep his hand from reaching for the nearest one.]

[more than just hurt, sweetheart~. the darkness around Sora's hands will fade so he can get one of the knives, the shadow lingering in the doorway to "watch".]

[thankfully, the nearest one wasn't very large like the cleaver. it is rather slim though, with a serrated edge and a very sharp point. now that he has the knife, his hand will slip behind his back as he starts heading out of the kitchen in a different direction; supposedly, the direction the real Kai is in.

and yes, he did try to step directly on that shadow. :|]

[it didn't even move; it's not like Gem could feel it, after all.]

[well it made Sora feel a little better. he's torn between hoping someone sees him with the knife and stops him, or hoping he doesn't come across anyone at all. he doesn't know himself where Kai is, but apparently his curse does.]

[that's just awesome. he wasn't sure if he would have to direct Sora, but this works just as well~.]

[he'll be dragging his feet when he realizes he's headed toward what appears to be an art room, or doing so as much as he can.]

[and the victim will be sitting at a table, frowning hard at a piece of paper in front of him. his bandaged hand is in his lap, and he's... well, attempting to draw with his left. results are varying from absolutely terrible to something a little kid could manage. grrr.]

[he's relieved there's at least no one else in the room, and wonders if Kai can see it in Sora's eyes that something is terribly wrong when he enters, a hand behind his back still. he can't bring himself to act without at least trying to give some warning, knowing that the shadow is still following him.]

... Kai?

[he blinks and looks up, smiling a bit in greeting. the smile turns wary, however, when he feels Gem's presence nearby.]

What's up?

[he's still dragging his feet as he comes over, not returning that smile at all. he wishes he knew of a way to get around Gem's order, but with the inability to accept new orders, his mind is drawing a blank.]

I just. Wanted to say I'm sorry.

[he looks confused, and more and more wary as he slowly stands up, watching Sora.]

For what?

[he looks like he's struggling, and he definitely is. the command was to stab after all, not poke. his expression suddenly crumbles as he clenches his eyes shut, the arm hidden behind his back suddenly coming forward to thrust the knife at Kai's stomach.]

He's making me do it!

[he just barely manages to get back far enough to dodge, though he ends up tripping over a chair leg and landing on his burnt hand. it gets a pained noise out of him and he squeezes his eyes shut briefly from the flare of pain running up his arm.]

[he makes another choked sob as he follows, unable to stop himself from trying again.]

I'm sorry, I can't stop!

[the old "third time's the charm" thing is probably going to be true in this case as well. for now, he's trying to scramble away, trying to get up so he can put some distance between them. he's too panicky to actually reply right now.]

[a third try then, Sora actually starting to cry when the knife thrusts again, trying to at least keep his aim from getting something he knows is vital.]

I'm s-so sorry!

[once he actually does manage to stab Kai, he'll drop the knife and immediately call up his Keyblade, wanting to heal any damage he's caused.]

[he cries out at the stab, ceasing to move. even if it wasn't anywhere that'll kill him, it was still a fairly long knife with a serrated blade, right? he's just going to... lay on the floor and hold a hand over the injury.

from the doorway, the swarm of shadow on the floor seems to rise for a moment. Gem is not please that Sora's going to heal him immediately after, but he doesn't feel like engaging in an actual fight right now, so off he'll go.]

[he fires off another cure before dropping to his knees beside Kai, looking every bit a sobbing mess as he puts his own hands to the wound to try to help stop any bleeding. he doesn't even notice Gem is gone.]

H-He's gone.

[ow ow ow son of a bitch that hurt. he's glad for the healing, and isn't trying to move away from Sora, at least.]

[he would be heartbroken if Kai did.]

Are you going to be okay?

I've had worse.

[shoots him a shaky smile, trying to sit up.]
