[well, there's no way Kai would have the ears and tail that the latest spell has brought to people. instead, he's going through a costume closet, picking through a box of... cat ear headbands. there's a cat tail next to him; the kind that can clip onto the back of one's pants or belt, and it looks to be pretty much spot on for colour if your name is Riku. now he's just looking for "ears" to match. also, his bunny is crawling through a pile of feather boas nearby, having a lovely time ripping each individual feather from them.]

[he has no idea what you're up to Kai, but he has felt a vague sense of being watched off and on all day that's made him a little jumpy as he cleans up the kitchen]

[well, give it a little while longer and he will be peeking into the kitchen with an armful of bunny, plus some grey furry things. and a couple feathers from the boas because Apricot wouldn't let go of them.]

Riku?

[jumps and quickly turns, though once he sees it's just Kai he relaxes, his eyes going to what he's carrying. he's suddenly glad he hadn't gotten to the floor yet, because feathers and .. fur?]

Yes, Kai?

Um.

[hahhh he looks a little embarrassed, shuffling into the doorway awkwardly.]

Well, you've read the posters for the latest spell right?

[glances briefly to the one stuck to the fridge with magnets, starting to feel more than a little self-conscious because is that poster were true, he'd have lost his cat-features long ago]

Yes. It's... not a big deal, right?

Well, I figured... since you never really chose to, you know. I figured I'd try to find you some... things.

[holding out the headband and tail, looking more embarrassed now.]

I know it's not the same thing, but I wanted to- give you the choice, you know? Since you would have them if not for those asshole Organization members.

[looks at those, then back at Kai, understanding dawning on him. he's feeling much like he's just been given a warm, enveloping hug at Kai's words]

Those are for me?

Y-Yeah, if you want them. I did my best to find them in colours as close to your hair as possible.

[that's a very tentative smile you're getting now, Kai. also, he's wearing some of the clothes Kira picked out for him, so he actually has a belt to hook that tail to]

Will you help me put them on?

[oh, awesome! he brightens quite a bit, and moves to set Apricot down so he can help.]

Yeah, of course.

[he'll be sure to hold still, so Kai can adjust them how he wants them]

[he steps back once he's finished, beaming.]

There we go.

[starts to reach up to touch the ears, but pulls his hand back. he doesn't want to dislodge them]

Does it look okay?

[he smiles softly, looking happy.]

You fit right in.

Can I-? Thank you, Kai.

[gives a little embarrassed smile in return. he caught himself that time before asking if he could thank Kai, and thankfully hadn't taken a step toward him. he is very thankful though]

[hey, that just gets him smiling brighter!]

I'm just glad I could help.

Kai, do you think I stand out too much like this?

['this' being the clothing Kira picked out for him. he wouldn't know a designer if they slapped him on the ass, but those are the sort of clothes he's been doing dishes in]

[starts to smile again, then starts to look a little worried]

[breathes a sigh of relief, brightening]

That's.. that's good. Kira picked these out for me.

I'm a little surprised you let her, to be honest. But I'm glad to see you wearing some proper clothing.

She.. said you'd like me to wear something besides my coat.

Well, I certainly would, but I would have preferred you to do it at your own pace. Still, it's definitely not a bad thing.

It actually hadn't occurred to me to change. The closet still produces the coats.
