[ Kairi doesn't remember falling asleep, but as she stirs in the dark, she has to rub the sleep from her eyes. What time is it? She sits up in bed, reaching for the lamp on her nightstand and slipping a hand under the shade to twist the knob. She hears it give a click, but she's still sitting in the dark. Sliding off of the bed and onto her feet, she tries to squint through the dark to make out even the faintest of shapes that are her furniture to help her avoid obstacles as she makes her way to her bedroom door. Fortunately, her room's clean and there are not too many things to trip over, so she makes it to the door after a minute or two of walking around with her hands held out in front of herself, trying to feel her way through the room. Finally, her fingertips are pressed against the wood of her door and she lowers a hand to turn the doorknob, pulling the door open.
Everything is dark. Kairi's looking up toward the hallway ceiling questioningly, still half-expecting the lights to come on, but after a few seconds of this, she realizes that they're not going to fix themselves. So she peers down the corridor, wondering which way to take to get to the room housing the power controls. But there are so many rooms... and as Kairi's settle on the hall, she can't help but notice there are so many glowing eyes staring back at her. She opens her eyes wide in surprise, and her attempt at slipping away without so much as a noise to further reveal herself fails miserably as she takes a few steps back into her room only to trip over one of the Shadows that has crept into her room. The graceful escape is foiled before it can begin, as she comes falling to the floor and onto her butt. ]
Ahh! Get off!
[ The girl's scrambling backwards in some sort of crabwalk in the dark, kicking at the Heartless at her feet and elbowing the Heartless closest to her head for the time it takes her to move two yards backward and finally twist onto her knees and hands, shoving herself up onto her feet while not wasting a moment before starting into a run. She doesn't know where she's going, only that she wants to get away from them. The Heartless, on the other hand, are hungry for the Light, so while some seep into the floor to follow her, others toddle after her on their feet. Kairi runs into her bed, hitting her shin on the bed frame and biting back a pained noise as she crawls onto the mattress, groping out for the lamp still set at the opposing side's nightstand. Both hands make contact with it for just a brief second before their fingers curl around the body of it, tightening their grip and yanking it back toward her, effectively ripping the cord from the wall's socket.
If the lights had been working, anyone walking by would have seen Kairi swinging a lamp at the Shadows which were now accompanying her in bed. Spotting another mass of yellow eyes at the floor, however, Kairi opts to relieve herself of the lamp, throwing it at the Heartless with as much force as she can manage. The sound of the lamp shattering makes Kairi jump, but she just snatches up a pillow in the same movement, using it to smack the Shadows still in bed with her. ]

Kairi? It's me.

[ She figures he must be one of the good ones if he's helping her. The pillow swinging comes to a stop, and Kairi's trying to figure out where Riku is in order to avoid hitting him. What would have posed a serious problem for her seems to be more like child's play for her friend, but she's not the least bit bothered by it. Rather, she's extremely thankful that he found her! ]

Kairi walks on her knees to the edge of the bed before swinging her legs over the edge and tentatively placing her feet on the floor. ]
Are they... gone?

Seems like. You okay?
/repeatedly raped by work. :<
[ There's a sigh of relief, now that she knows the Heartless aren't around. She stands up, reaching out to see if she can find Riku in the dark, and takes a few careful steps forward.
She's letting out a yelp, having just walked over the shattered remains of her old lamp. Ouch. ]
D:
What happened?

I threw a lamp earlier and... I just stepped in it.
[ She bites her lip, eyes watering a bit. ]

Sorry, Riku...

It's fine.

Thanks.
[ While he's tracking down some potions, she's lifting up one of her feet into her lap, tentatively trying to pick the shards out. She'll just be placing a few pieces of bloody porcelain beside her. Yech. ]

You're probably going to want to put some peroxide on that. Just in case.
no subject
Oh.
[ She smirks, putting her foot down to pick up the other. ]
Thanks, Doctor Riku~. Heh.
[ And she's entirely oblivious to the irony in this. ]

I've still got a few more years before I know enough for that.

Is that what you want to do? Be a doctor?
no subject
[Watches, making sure things go smoothly- like a good doctor should~]

[ Kairi's slipping her feet into the sink now, and there's a river of red spinning down the drain within seconds. The redhead inhales sharply as she wrinkles up her nose. Ahh, she'll never throw a lamp again. ]
no subject
That's not entirely true.

[ Once the water's running clear again, Kairi turns off the faucet and reaches behind herself to get that peroxide with one hand and pointing up to the towel rack with the other. ]
And could you get me a towel?
[ If not to put this stuff on with, to bite on while she does it. ]
no subject
[He's really not too good at that. He's not bad at grabbing towels though, so here, have one.]
no subject
What's that supposed to mean, Riku? Have you been telling lies?
no subject
[It's just not exactly truth either.]
