[ Lighter than air itself, someone is walking along the furniture of the dressing room at an abnormal speed. Nothing moves, not even the chair tips over as he stands on top of its back to jump, latching onto a beam in the rafters and flipping up to hang over it. His clothes are brown and solid and look old, a simple shirt and pants with a tied belt, but he has no shoes.

Out of anyone, this newcomer looks like a Larxene, with his sleek form and short blonde hair. It's not quite as bright, more of a honey color than the normal yellow, and he's missing a distinct pair of longer features. But who else could he be? ]

Funny, sisters.

Comparing me to my drastically corrupted future? That's fair.

[The next time Kai blinks, those yellow markings around his eyes will have disappeared, and his old clothes will be replaced by a casual shirt and jeans.]

[he was going to say something, but he stops, surprised.]

...well, how am I supposed to know just how corrupted a future it is? You could be like him and faking it. There are plenty of people like that around here.

[Haha, tossed you off track~]

Oh, I'm sure. But that isn't restricted to my kind. You'd do well to remember that, Kai.

[runs a hand through his hair roughly.]

Look, I'm willing to give you a chance. You're not Larxene, so I can't just decide to dislike you for what he's done. But you look like him, and it's not going to be easy for me to ignore that, okay? I'll even give you an answer as to why I don't like him, without asking anything in return.

[Lifts his eyebrows at that, casually placing his hands in his pockets.]

Go on.

He hates me.

[pauses.]

Well, as much as a Nobody can hate, anyway. He's killed me before; just slit my throat after beating me up and stabbing me in the stomach, and then tossed me into a busy room so people could watch me die. And I'd have some scars from him if not for an angel getting rid of all of them.

[Leans closer to get a look at him, wrinkling his nose.]

I thought you were human.

Oh, death isn't permanent here. I've died a couple times now.

Interesting. Most mortals only ever get the pleasure of experiencing that once.

[Straightens.]

But why does he hate you so much?

[thinks back on that one.]

I stood up for a friend.

Harsh.

[What thick sarcasm. He doesn't see how that's bad.]

[shrugs, rubbing his neck a bit.]

Said friend was someone Larx regularly picked on back in their world, I guess. And I kept standing up to him, instead of playing the weak victim without a fight. It annoyed him, or something.

I guess I could understand that.

[Or could he? An awful lot of this seems all talk. Actually, after a minute, he starts grinning.]

He must enjoy this life.

He can't. Enjoy it, I mean. Not really.

[finds himself rubbing over where the scar on his chest was without realizing it.]

How do you know?

[He sees that, but he's not commenting! Yet.]

Nobodies... the only thing really left of emotion is memory, for most of them.

[sounds kind of like he's speaking from experience, looking down at his hand with a frown.]

[Scoffs and crosses his arms, looking off smugly.]

Then he should have plenty.

Oh, I'm sure. But he doesn't feel, he's just remembering.

Plenty of memory.

[He's smirking!]

Let's find him.

...please tell me you're kidding. I'm not going anywhere near him voluntarily unless there's a guarantee I won't get hurt.

[Cracks a grin.]

And if I did guarantee it?

[SIGHS.]

Then I guess I'll get a bit of a laugh if he tries.

[Oh he just look so damn pleased.]

Lead me somewhere he would be. You won't get hurt.

[he actually looks hesitant for a moment there; vulnerable.]

You swear I won't?

[He's quiet, tilting his head to eye Kai very thoughtfully, for a long, silent moment.]
