you'd think she'd learn by now

[Larxene didn't really take older-Red's warning seriously. Whatever future he's from isn't going to change just because his past self knows about it; she's seen that already with Doublemint. She figured he'd cool off once he saw Aden was okay. No other reason for him to be pissed off, right?

Since she hasn't seen Saïx around lately, it seemed safe enough to leave Akane with Doublemint for a little while. There wasn't any reason not to bring her along, but she likes to be able to take a walk without toting along babby and a stroller and supplies every now and then. At least she doesn't do so nearly as often anymore.

She's not scared, (though maybe a little more wary than she'd admit,) but she's not going near the Halloween Town room today. The main garden is better anyway: it doesn't stick her in stupid costumes.]

[Oh, 'xene. Poor, stupid 'xene- you would think she'd learn by now, that people around here are good at going through with their threats. That would be why she's currently got a shadow, someone following just at the edge of the senses, completely silent.]

[Red's an entirely different creature than crazy!Saïx, can that be her excuse? She swears she keeps seeing movement out of the corner of her eye, and it's making her a little jumpy.]

[Jumpy is good. Jumpy is what he wants. He knows he can't get the scare he wants out of her, not with what she is, but he'll make do with this warning. That spider skittering past her, over her boot, it's not anything to worry about, right? It's not even that big.]

[They're in a garden. Gardens have bugs sometimes, so that's nothing out of the ordinary, right?

She stomps on it anyway. Maybe she should go pick up Akane early.]

[Maybe that line of slowly decaying flora will catch her attention, then. After all, it's heading in her direction. What's causing it? Well, that's a good question. If she looks close enough, there's a thin line of black liquid in the middle of the decay.]

[steps out of the way and, subtly as she's becoming more certain she's being tailed, starts to head back towards one of the exits.]

[Does she really want to go through that nest of snakes that has suddenly appeared, blocking the way out?]

[are they immune to lightning? But she stops anyway.]

You may as well come out, Red.

[Well, they're not real snakes, as much as they appear to be- the venom in them is real enough, however. There's silence around her, save for the quiet shriveling of plant life as the decay continues toward her.]

[She's not sure it can get through her boots, but she steps onto a rock to be on the safe side. Better move quick, Red, she's about to open a portal.]

[Well, there are metal rods popping up; four of them, forming a nice sized square around her. They buzz to life and a suddenly there's a faint barrier, which he gets past right before it pops up. Feel free to try and escape now, 'xene.]

[She gets the feeling she doesn't want to touch that, so she'll still try to portal. Unfortunately, it fails.]

Nice little invention, isn't it? It was originally made to keep Heartless and Nobodies from portalling in, but we discovered it could be used the other way around, too. That Vexen's a pretty smart guy.

Vexen would come up with that.

[she speaks calmly, but the sparks flickering around her hair-antennae say otherwise]

He would, wouldn't he. Funnily enough, it was the human one that used to be running around. Not to be mistaken for Even, of course.

[He looks pretty calm, relaxed, hands in his pockets. Of course, that's when he's most dangerous, with his hands there.]

[normally she'd ask how that works, but there are more important things to deal with here.]

You know, you're really overreacting.

[Hell if he knows. Same way there are human Axels here, probably. He just siiiighs and shakes his head like he's dealing with a particularly dense child.]

You really don't get it. It's too bad.

[talking down to her's a great way to provoke her! Larxene glares daggers at him, and her fingers curl as though she's gripping invisible knives.]

Afraid I was going to make your kid disappear?

Nah, I know things have changed enough for him to be safe.

What did you think gave you the right to tell him?

A boy has a right to know about his own son, doesn't he?

[Larx, that lofty, I'm-better-than-you attitude isn't going to get you maimed less. :|]

Aden's not his, he's mine.

[His casual attitude is gone as he pulls a large butcher knife out of his right pocket.]

Same thing.

[Her knives materialize. Without much room to move, she's at a serious disadvantage...]

Not anymore. It still doesn't give you the right to bark off other people's secrets.

[He spins the knife in his hand for a moment, contemplating attacking- but he's tossing a bomb from his other pocket first.]

[sorry, did I say not much room to move? Apparently there's plenty of space for her to try and get out of the way. She's just lucky the explosion is smaller than she expected.]

[He probably could have set the barrier smaller, but it's always fun when they run. Another bomb is tossed, this time at the ground, which splits open and cracks outward to make the terrain a little more unstable.]
