[seasides]

[there's a Nami seated on the floor in a room done up in soft blues and greens, papers scattered around him. on the papers are various things; people, places, snapshots in time, fixed in coloured pencil- they all have two things in common: the dressing room and Kai. Nami's almost done fixing Kai's current memory problem, and will probably be completely finished in the next day or so. at the moment he's started on what looks like a riverside clearing in a forest.]

[busies himself with the tricky business of peeling a pineapple without poking himself, though most of him is very aware of Nami sitting behind him.]

[well, Nami's pretty much as nonthreatening as he can be, absently doodling on the table with his finger as he sips his drink.]

[where did that paper and pencil come from? Riku found and slipped it onto the table when he had to go to throw out the pineapple peelings and wash his hands.]

[seasides]

[blinks at the paper and pencil, then smiles brightly in Riku's direction.]

[captive_destiny]

You don't have to thank me. It's what I'm here for.

[It's still unsettling to have someone thanking him for the things he does.]

[seasides]

[shakes his head a little, but doesn't say anything in response to that. he's going to draw Riku a picture. :3]

[captive_destiny]

[Riku's started work on the other things then, saving the meat for last before sliding it all in chunks onto wooden skewers. the oven is ready by then, and all that's left is to clean up the mess he made while they wait.]

[seasides]

[well, if Riku happens to look over, there's a picture of him playing with Apricot half-there on the paper.]

[captive_destiny]

[he sees it when he steals a glance, and it makes him pause to watch]

Is that...?

[seasides]

Hm?

[doodledoodle.]

[captive_destiny]

Are you drawing more memories for Kai?

[seasides]

Nope.

[continues to draw.]

[captive_destiny]

[you've got his curiosity piqued, and he keeps stealing more glances as he wipes down a counter.]

Then... Why would you be drawing me?

[seasides]

Because I wanted to give you something happy.

[he's working extra hard on it, too.]

[captive_destiny]

[he looks dumbfounded for a good moment, then his ears are turning pink]

You didn't have to, but... thanks.

[seasides]

You're welcome.

[aw, how cute.]

[captive_destiny]

[Riku will take very good care of that drawing when it's finished. For now, he's habitually cleaning up the kitchen in general for something to keep him occupied.]

[Nami was thinking of finding a frame for it, so it wouldn't get frayed or anything.]

[captive_destiny]

[Riku had been planning to keep it in his bedside drawer as something to take out and look at when he needed something to cheer him up, but that would work too.]

[seasides]

[well he can still do that, this way it's just less likely to get ripped or something!]

[captive_destiny]

[he'll be very glad to have it either way. by the way, does the scent of those kabobs smell good? because Riku's checking on them now to see if they're done yet.]

[seasides]

[yes, the kabobs definitely smell good. it's got him pausing in finishing the little details of the drawing and looking over.]

[captive_destiny]

[that pleased little smile of his means they're done! he's carefully pulling the tray out now, and setting them out onto a plate before setting it in front of Nami with some napkins.]

I hope you like them.

[seasides]

I'm sure I will.

[he beams at Riku, one of his rarely there ones, before digging in.]

[That makes Riku feel a little warmer inside; it's always nice to be appreciated.]
