[there's a naga curled in front of a couch in one of the busier areas of the dressing room. he's not sleeping; there's a large, mottled egg in front of him on the cushions, and he's staring at it intently. it's got a big crack running across it already, and after a few more moments, a little chunk of shell goes flying as whatever's inside starts trying to get out.]

[nods, wedging a claw into the crack in the egg and wiggling it a little, prying off another bit of shell.]

Naga young have to be helped out of their eggsss when it iss time for them to hatch, or they can get wrapped up in their own coilsss and sssuffocate. I do not think thisss will have that problem, but better to be ssafe.

[starts collecting the pieces, both so no one ends up stepping/sitting/falling on them, but also because he's never seen an egg like this.]

[o u. rolls his eyes a little at Vexen being Vexen, but continues helping the egg hatch, setting the bits of shell aside as he works them loose. the thing inside is half-visible now, kicking feebly at the rest of the shell trapping it, and making plaintive mewling noises.]

[come over here and make me. ~C: oh, but suddenly the baby whatever-it-is is free, tumbling onto its face on the couch in a pile of damp limbs and tail, reddish fur ruffled every whichway.

leans forward hastily to keep it from falling off the couch, helping it up and smoothing the fur down, mindful of his claws.]

[o hai, you scratched my back for me, right? glances over, tongue flickering briefly as he identifies her, then smiles a little.]

[sobers, turning his gaze back to the egg, which is rocking back and forth slightly.]

...I was asssleep for a long time. My mate disssappeared and I... wasss quite losst without him around. Ssso I sslept.

[kid, you're lucky I'm not like I was when I first came here, or you'd be my lunch within the next minute or so. :| waffles a bit, wanting to go investigate, but unwilling to leave the egg when it's hatching. finally just settles back in front of the couch, hissing anxiously, glancing over at the chair every few moments.]

I will be honesst, I mossst likely would have at leassst tried to hurt you, in the passst. But I have changed, in thiss placsse. I only eat meat that iss already dead, now.
