[It would seem the kitchen has been trashed; food, utensils, pots and pans pulled out of some of the cupboards and left on the floor haphazardly like someone was looking for something.

However one of the cupboards( or the person hiding in it) is sobbing loudly. There's probably more to this than hunting for snacks.]
