[ This place does so love throwing surprises at people. In Riku's opinion, it's the ones that concern her friends that are the worst. Something's really caught her off guard, and she's not sure what to think. But she wants to know for sure what this place has done now.

So Riku's making her way through one of the halls, checking open rooms on the way. If Red isn't in his room, she's got two other places, but after that... She won't know what to do.]

[He's not there; the door to his room is wide open, dirt tracked over the floor in and around it. There's nothing different about the inside of it otherwise.]

[... Well, damn. She's going to spend about thirty seconds inside to check and make sure he isn't invisible or anything, then head back out, closing the door on her way. This is not boding well.]

[The dirt tracks disappear fairly quickly, so she probably can't use those to guide her to where he is. If they're even his tracks.]

[That figures. Well, there are only so many places she knows she could look for him, so it's to his kitchen first.]

[...And the kitchen is empty, too. It looks like he was there recently, if the half-made food is anything to go by.]

[Damn it. Riku just stops in the doorway, looking around the kitchen in silence. She's a little hesitant to keep looking, seeing as there's only one more area, but it's better than not knowing. So she turns to leave, this time for Halloween Town.]

[And Red is right there as soon as she turns around, blinking at her.]

[Well. She didn't scream, at least. But that startles her. It's pretty amazing how fast she backpedals, and if anything happens to be nearby it gets slammed into.]

[Uh, yeah. Watch out for the table. He just stands there just outside the door, slightly alarmed by her reaction.]

...yo, Riku.

[dawnrise]

[Whoops. Riku stays right where she is, leaned over slightly, one hand over her face. It takes a second for her to get her bearings, and before she speaks she lets out a deep breath.]

Hey.

[before]

[He slips into the kitchen, frowning slightly in her direction. He's mostly confused by the random visit.]

Did you need something?

[dawnrise]

[She straightens, dropping her hand and shaking her head.]

No.

[before]

...alright.

[Gives her an odd look before going back to the food.]

What're you doing here then?

[dawnrise]

[The way she hesitates makes it pretty clear Riku's considering whether or not she should say.]

... I wanted to see if you were still here.

[before]

[Okay, that makes him pause and turn around.]

Why wouldn't I be?

[dawnrise]

[... Brushes her hair back, not bothering to hide her frown.]

There's a new Axel.

[before]

[It doesn't quite click, what she means by that.]

...and?

[dawnrise]

[Looks at him, hands dropping to her sides.]

And he'd been here before. Except not as an Axel.

[He stares for a moment, then snorts.]

Guess it was bound to happen at some point.

[dawnrise]

[Crosses her arms.]

Yeah. Knowing this place.

[before]

[Leans against the counter.]

So you came by to make sure I was still here. Didn't realize I was that important.

[dawnrise]

[Gives him a look.]

Something wrong with wanting to know if someone's gone?

What if I hadn't been in here?

Then I would've left.
