There are a number of books stacked on the table, some simple math problems on the chalkboard, and he's sitting and grading a workbook with a red pen. Maybe he should take a break eventually, but right now, he's dealing with multiplication.]

That doesn't make any sense, 'cause it sounds like a 'eeeeee.' It's 'sposed to be a 'e.'

You're very smart for noticing that, 'bug! You're right, the 'i' in my name doesn't sound like a normal 'i'. But depending on the word, the letter 'i' can sound different. 'I' normally sounds like 'eye', but it can also sound like 'ee', or even 'eh'. Like this...

*writes out the word 'fish'*

F-I-S-H. Fish. There's an 'i'. But you don't say 'f-EYE-sh'. And you don't say 'f-EE=sh'. You say 'f-eh-sh'. Fish.

Well, as you learn to read more, you can figure it out. And it helps to read out loud, too, because when you read a word, you can hear if it sounds wrong. Like 'fish'.
