There are a number of books stacked on the table, some simple math problems on the chalkboard, and he's sitting and grading a workbook with a red pen. Maybe he should take a break eventually, but right now, he's dealing with multiplication.]

It's nothing to be ashamed of. Many of the children here have gone without proper education for months.

I check all the books I give the kids to make sure they're appropriate, since they're all at different levels. But thanks for the head's up. I'm not planning on teaching sex ed.

Perhaps it's for the best. Nearly all of the children here are incredibly young; they needn't be concerned with such practices for quite some time.

He likes dinosaurs. But, well... he likes it when we read stories to him, but he's not so interested in learning to read for himself. I don't think he even knows all his letters, and he's six. Kids should be able to read at least a little by then, right? Little Brother is pretty advanced, but he's a genius.

Six is about the age one should learn how to read, yes. Kairi knows a bit herself... Children enjoy using their imaginations. Perhaps you could encourage him to learn by mentioning the possibilities of reading?
