[Even though it's April, one of the common rooms seems to have a bit of a chill to it. So Riku's taken to curling up in an armchair next to a fireplace, coffee in one hand and a book in the other. Were one to look close enough, they would see the book is about babies and the delivering thereof. Quite incriminating evidence for anyone he hasn't told yet.]

[Speaking of babies. There's one entering the room now, his dad holding him in his arms.]

Funny, I did the same thing.

[Looks up, a sheepish expression on his face.]

I was wondering when I'd get the chance to tell you.

You wouldn't have found me fast enough. Namine told me the second she found out.

[Lets out a laugh and Austin mimics it with a sound of his own.]

[Smiles.]

Guess it's no big secret then. You'll be an uncle in no time.

[Lets out a laugh.]

Not for me anyways. But speaking of uncles-

[Hands over Austin, who's making grabby hands at Riku.]

[Oh what. For all his book knowledge, his practical knowledge about babies is zero :| Just takes Austin, hoping he's holding him the right way. ~~What are fatherly instincts.~~]

[Okay, he can't help but snort.]

He's a baby, not nuclear waste.

[Adjusts Austin and places Riku's hand on Austin's neck to support it. And Austin seems perfectly fine by this!]

[afsgasd indignant face >|]

I know that. It's just... ugh.

I'm not ready for... I can't do this. Father thing.

Yes, you can.

[And as if agreeing, Austin coos happily and waves his fists in the air.]

You know, I didn't think I could do it either...

[Sighs, looking down at Austin. At least he seems happy here.]

So how did you pull through?

Honestly? I didn't for a long time. I was scared to death right up until I held that baby for the first time. Then. somehow. I just knew.

I mean, I helped take care of the Austin from when I was a teenager, so I knew the basics, but it's not the same. I wasn't expected to raise the kid.

[Austin continues makes a few noises every now and then, but mostly stays quiet. It's almost nap time anyways.]

[Sighs once again, just keeping a worried face.]

I have no idea how to take care of a kid. And I can't afford to freak out about this either- I have to be there to reassure Namine. To be honest, I am scared to death I'll mess this up.

You won't. You've been known to pull through when you didn't think you could before, and I'm sure you can do it again. Besides, you've always got help anytime you need it.

[Austin squirms a bit and fusses, and Roxas just glances at Riku to see what he does.]

[He just instinctively shifts Austin to a hopefully more comfortable position.]

I need all the help I can get. I don't even know where to start with taking care of a kid. Wish I had an example to go off, actually.

[And Austin immediately curls up and falls asleep.

Roxas just clears his throat with a rather obvious 'ahem' and raises an eyebrow.]

You should start by looking down at the kid you just got to go to sleep.

[Looks down with a surprised expression. He's wondering how that happened, because he certainly didn't intend for it to.]

...I have no idea how I did that.

It's called instinct, Riku. Yeah, there's a few things here and there that you have to learn, but you get all that from your textbooks, I'm sure.

[Austin shifts a bit, stretching his little arms above his head for a moment before settling back down and snuggling closer.]

And if you really don't feel ready, I'm more than willing to show you what I know from that little monster.

I'd appreciate any advice you're willing to give. You certainly have more faith in my alleged 'instinct' than me.

Because I've been there and I know. I'm not telling you it'll be easy, because it won't. But it's nothing you can't handle. and it's definitely worth it.

[Gives him a reassuring smile.]

[Manages to smile back, somewhat less anxious than before.]

I know it'll be worth it, I'm just not sure I can do this kind of thing. Guess we'll find out.

[Pats his shoulder.]

You'll do fine. Don't get nervous too soon; you've still got a while until the baby's due and plenty of time to think about it. And anytime you need me, I'm here, got it?

[Nods and gives a grateful smile.]

[Austin stirs again, so Roxas takes him back and messes up Riku's hair while he's there.]

Quit thanking me, I'm happy to help in anyway I can.

[Peeks over the back of the armchair and giggles.]

Getting started on the reading already?

Just... reviewing.

[He already knows enough about medical things to have at least a masters degree in medicinal science. But delivering kids is definitely not his specialty.]

[Kisses the top of his head.]

Are you planning on delivering the baby?

I figured that would make things easier on both of us.

'Both of us'?

[Wonders what he means.]

Yeah. Neither of us will have to worry about finding someone to help when the time comes.

[Because Aeriths aren't always around when you need them.]

Oh... that's true.

[Walks around the chair and crawls into his lap.]

[Sets his book and coffee aside on the end table next to him, bringing his arms around to hold her.]

How've you been? Feeling alright?

[Turns towards him, brushing his hair out of his face a bit.]

I'm alright. Cravings here and there, but the morning sickness has gotten better.

That's good. If you need me to get you anything, just say the word. And don't push yourself too hard, alright?

[Worried soon-to-be-fatherku is worried.]

Riku, this baby isn't going to be here for a while, you don't have to worry about me.

[Gives him a smile and a quick peck on the lips.]

But I do anyways. Can't help it.

[Still looks a bit unsettled, but less so.]

[Turns a bit and takes his hand, placing it on her belly and leaves hers on top of it.]

Are you excited?

[Leans closer to kiss her on the temple.]

Of course. Can't say much else in my life has been more exciting.

~~Not even that time we did it behind the--~~

Good to know.

[Leans against him, nestling her head under his and just smiles.]

~~Alright, that was pretty exciting.~~

What about you?

~~Yeahh, and the time in the library. on the desks.~~

Excited, nervous, it's all the same to me now.

[Lets out a slight laugh and rubs her thumb over his hand.]

~~We knocked off so many stacks of books, didn't we?~~

Not too anxious, I hope?

~~I'm surprised we didn't get kicked out of there. I guess not many people are in the library at that time...~~

Riku- [Takes his face in her hands and looks at him.] I'm fine, okay?

~~Maybe they just didn't want to interrupt us~~~

[Maintains his worried expression before finally letting it go.]

...Alright.

~~... that would have been awkward.~~

[Smiles and runs a hand through his hair.]

If I ever need anything, you will be the first one I call, I promise. and I'll make sure to keep you updated, too, if that will make you feel better.

[Just nods, trying to smile a bit.]

I can't help that I'm worried about you. In a place like this you know all the dangers there are, all the psychos running around. I just don't want you to get caught up in any of that- ever, but especially now.

I know, I understand.

[Cuddles up against him again.]

I just don't want you to be worried and anxious all the time. You have to relax too, you know.

[Holds her close, relaxing a bit.]

I'll try my best.

Okay, good.

[Pulls his face closer and kisses him on the lips.]
