[Sighs and leans her head against his chest, trying not to get too upset.]

[Still keeping his hands to himself because guilt. The part of him he would call selfish just wants to hold her close though and keep her safe and close and here with him.]

He didn't hurt me because he was trying to get to you! Or at least that wasn't the main reason.

And I shouldn't have been stupid enough to think that he had already dragged you there or that I'd even be able to help you if he had.

[He was wondering how she got into that situation. After a pause, he'll give in to that 'selfish' part of him and just hug her tightly, but not too much.]

[Nuzzles against his chest, just hugging for a moment before letting out a sigh and looking back up at him.]

Don't apologize, none of this is your fault.

I have to take some of the blame for this.

[He's not completely innocent, after all.]

Or we can just not blame anyone except them.

[He's not sure being 'more careful' will be enough. And he's still feeling sort of awful.]

Whatever I did, I'm sorry. I'm still... not sure what I'm supposed to do to keep this from happening again.

[Has he not noticed her neck yet? The bruises should be visual by now. She just places her hands on his face so she can look right at him.]

It's okay. If I ever happen to see you like that again, I'll just make sure not to go near you, okay?

[He's been a bit distracted. Just nods a bit, looking at her with more relief than anything else at the moment. And now of course, he notices her neck.]

[Swallows hard, guessing he just noticed, and just hugs him again, sliding her arms around his neck.]

It's not a big deal...

[He's not going to try and argue with her anymore, but it is so a big deal. I means he didn't try to hurt her, he tried to kill her. So he just hugs her tightly again, murmuring a quiet apology twice more.]

[Sighs and stays in that hug a while, running her hand over the ends of his hair. Finally speaks softly, leaning her head against his.]

[Has calmed down a decent amount, just trying to get back into the swing of things.]

[Nods a bit and takes his hand.]

Good, I'm glad.

[Finally looks up at the stars, smiling just a little.]
