kairi's magical peaches

{ Kairi settled on growing peaches- though only God knows how they grew so quickly. There are baskets of them sprawled out on a table nearby the gardens- is it just the sunlight, or are they glowing ever so slightly?

She's humming while examining the peaches on the tree, picking off fresh ones and letting the ripe ones grow. In her other hand is a packet of peach seeds, with some instructions written on the back. }

{ ooc: magical peach seeds. eat one and you'll feel either a. an odd surge of happiness, time varies; b. feel oddly stronger or more intelligent; or c. be stuck in a giant peach outfit. }

[Riku doesn't visit the garden very often, so she's not surprised to see something there she hasn't before. but she does sense something... off about those peaches, and it's enough to make her stop walking.]

{ Kairi looks over at Riku, smiling and waving politely. } Hello! Would you like some peaches? They're really good.

[glances up to Kairi, waving a bit back.]

Maybe... Where'd they come from?

Well, the peach seeds were just in one of the bags at the side here. { She points at the two pockets at the side of her wheelchair. } So I thought I'd grow 'em!

[...odd. but Riku's learned not to question things about the dressing room.]

Looks like it's kept you busy.

Not really. They grew completely within a few days! And there are so many, I dunno what to do with them. { She picks some more, still oblivious to the glow coming off of them. }

Sounds like something out of Wonderland.

[says it quietly, walking closer to pick up one of the peaches and look it over.]

{ Riku might be able to tell that it's covered in light. Kairi fills another basket and puts it on the table. } Hm? Didn't catch what you said.

[shakes her head, turning the fruit over in her hand. she's a little focused on it.]

Nevermind. Where'd you say you found those seeds?

The pockets of my wheelchair. { She looks at the peaches herself. } Is there something wrong with them?

Nothing wrong, I think. They're just... Giving off light.

{ The peach that Riku holding gives off a faint, airy giggle, though it does little else. Kairi doesn't seem to notice, as she's shrugging as she continues examining the peaches. } Light can't be bad, right?

[stares at the peach, a bit wide-eyed for a moment before she glances to Kairi.]

...no. Not usually.

Not usually? { The peach giggles some more. Isn't the missus going to take a bite? We're dying to get out! Kairi remains oblivious. }

[...sets the peach down.]

{ What's the matter? We won't harm you! We're just stuck inside of this darned seed! }

[would rather not consume anything that seems to be alive, or something like it.]

Hear what? { Kairi tilts her head. }

{ The peach only speaks to the person they want to, though now the talking has stopped. The light is flickering on and off now; though it's not too obvious in the sunlight. }

[glances from Kairi, to the peaches, then back to Kairi.]

... Nevermind. Not sure.

{ Riku hears a hollow "thump" from inside of the peach, its glow flickering on and off. The voices have stopped- but what exactly are they is it doing? }

Have you tried eating one yet? They're really sweet.

[Riku's wondering if they're trying to force their way out - whatever they are. and here she thought she was done hearing things like this.]

Y'sure? They're as sweet as oranges... I recall seeing you with a glass of orange juice before! And- { She's still examining peaches- though she turns to look at Riku and thump. The peach is trying to hop upward, and Kairi is rather wide-eyed. }

[whatever Riku was about to say has died in her throat, because she's watching that peach now.]

{ Blink. } A-are you sure? { She wheels toward it- and the Peach hops up to Riku's eye level. Thump. It hops again- thump }

[reaches out to catch the peach, mildly annoyed at being played with.]

{ The peach floats and hovers away from Riku's hands before she can grab it. More airy giggling fills the air. They say to the two, That's what you get for not freeing us! }

Y-yeah... um... what do you think is in there?

{ The peach zooms toward Riku at a shockingly fast speed, hovering while examining her. How's about a game to make up for not freeing us? We've much too much time, much too much. }

{ ooc: I was planning on drawing these peach fairies. And then I realized that took effort. |D }

[immediately takes a step back, ready to summon a weapon or call up a shield or something.]

What kind of game?

{ Why so scared, Riku? We can't be Heartless- we're much too full of light for that, aren't we? They giggle once more before hovering behind Riku, pushing her head a bit. Kairi looks rather confused and irritated at the peach, though she doesn't say a thing.

{ Oh, wouldn't something involving the whole garden be nice? We're all friends after all, right? ♥ The peach starts whirling around toward the trees and they start spiking with light energy. }

[given the chance, she would've explained that it was far from fear. but she just waves her hand back, swatting at them like you would an insect, and watches them with her eyes narrowed.]

Heartless aren't the only things capable of damage.

{ Oh, is that so? You're so very bold in your statements, Riku. ♥

{ The flora start to jump from their roots and dance around Kairi and Riku- all being Heartless. Fruits dancing wildly about, though the remaining peaches are still inanimate. As she swats the peach, it teleports onto Kairi's lap before giggling once again. Kairi sits back, startled. }

Riku, what's... going on?

[steps closer to Kairi, ready to protect her. in fact, before Riku's even moved she's summoned Way to Dawn, holding it up high.]

This place likes throwing things at you out of nowhere.

But Heartless... don't look like this, do they? { The flora are still dancing, though their waltzing their way closer to the two. The peach continues giggling on Kairi's lap. Oh~ Will this be fun! Dance with them, Riku, dance! ♥

{ The flora Heartless all spin in unison- and one of the inanimate peaches on the floor disappear after a flicker of light surrounds it. Watch out! }

Heartless can look like anything if they try hard enough.

[she's watching them as they get closer, too, her grip on the handle tightening. the minute anything comes after them - Heartless or peach - she'll slice it.]

{ The Heartless spin once again and another peach disappears- where they are is a mystery at the moment. When they land, Kairi's wheelchair is devoured by the roots, and as they do Kairi throws the peach as far as she can before collapsing.

{ The peach hovers in the air just before it hits the ground, though shrill laughter can be heard. Oh, but it never hurts to try! }

Wha-- but the other peaches didn't talk or anything! { She can't really stand in her current situation, so she looks at the floor feeling somewhat useless. With another step forward, the Heartless make a mad rush toward the two with surprising speed. }

[doesn't even bother replying to the peach, stepping so her back is to Kairi.]

Stay down!

[Riku's used to taking charge and fighting to protect anyway, so she immediately slashes at the Heartless, blade swinging wildly.]

{ The ones that are hit by Riku's Keyblade are thrown back easily, either wilting as they do or spinning around and jumping again at her to attack. As they spin and recoil, more of the inanimate peaches disappear- and if any one flora Heartless do so much as to touch either of them, they might feel drowsier than they were previously.

{ Kairi's doing a fairly good job dodging the Heartless, though her eyes look rather droopy. The hovering peach is getting significantly bigger every time a Heartless spins and a peach disappears, as the wild laughter grows louder and louder yet. }

[to the Heartless Riku sends a blast of dark firaga, then quickly whirls around to call up a shield over Kairi. it'll only last a few seconds, but it's helpful. and Riku's going a surprisingly good job of ignoring the few times she managed to be touched - in fact, after noticing what's going on, she heads for the hovering peach.]

{ The Heartless diminish and Kairi looks up at Riku and utters "Thanks"- but the shrill laughter fills the air.

{ Just before Riku can get to it, a soft glow surrounds the area before the Heartless become two women. Both of them are identical, with brittle wings, elegant and delicate, detailed drapes around their waist and translucent skin. Their eyes glow an intense white and their blond hair float lazily in the air as they fly upward to avoid Riku's attacks, laughing shrilly once again. }

Too slow, too slow! ♥ { They cast Reverse then Cura on Riku before dancing wildly in the air. Unfortunately, the flora from farther away turn into Heartless as they trudge forward. }
