[as if the DR itself wasn't enough of a labyrinth, this little Kai's found a new room; a maze. one of those large shrub mazes, to be exact, with a pretty little garden and pond in the middle. he peeks into the 'outdoor' maze curiously, before stepping inside and letting the door click shut behind him. bad habit, that. it's not long before he's thoroughly lost within the mess of shrubbery, though he doesn't seem frightened. just curious.]

[he wouldn't recognize her, least of all when she's changed like this, but there's someone else in this maze - someone who finds Kai at this age very familiar. she's innocently walking by on the other side of a hedge, hands clasped behind her back. she can sense him.]

[eventually he just sits down for a break, pulling out the candy cane he'd gotten from Santa to try it.]

[not long after she'll be coming walking around through an opening. not that she was following him, of course.]

[oh, of course not. he glances over at her eventually, looking surprised. there's a faint spark of recognition, too, but he can't seem to get a hold of it.]

[smiles down at him in an amazingly gentle way, not breaking her pace just yet.]

Hello there.

Are you tryin' to find the way out too?

[he's put at ease by the smile, returning it with one of his own around the candy cane.]

[that's good; she'd like for him to be comfortable around her, after all. she does eventually stop a few feet away.]

On the contrary, I find this place quite peaceful. Are you lost?

[he's gotten too used to everyone being nice to him, that wariness that he arrived with practically gone at times.]

Uh-huh! But it's okay, 'cause if I need help, Molly'll come an' get me.

[oh Kai. she lifts an eyebrow, appearing curious.]

And who is this Molly?

My kitty! He's really soft, an' takes care of me even though I'm s'posed to be taking care of him.

[nomnom candy cane.]

[that brings another smile to her face.]

You must suit each other quite well.

[just nods, beaming up at her even though he doesn't quite get what she means.]

[how cute. she glances to that candy cane, too.]

You're celebrating Christmas rather early.

Th' old man gave it to me! He talked 'bout Chris'mas too, an' asked what I wanted. I don't r'member if I knew about it before, though...

[trails off and glances down at the candy cane.]

How kind of him.

[she gives a quiet, soft chuckle at that, then tilts her head in another show of curiosity. she knows, but this, as everything, is experimental.]

Before...?

[nods, obviously not having any problem with explaining.]

I can't r'member anything from b'fore I showed up on th' Islands.

[she isn't smiling now, but it's hidden on the edge of her lips as always.]

How unfortunate. Do you know why?

[shakes his head, fiddling with the candy.]

Nuh-uh.

[she looks thoughtful now.]

Well, perhaps it will come to you. How long has it been since you lost your memories?

Umm.... a couple months ago?

[smiles again. oh, he is young.]

I see.

[why so smiling, Anfemme? he looks a little confused by it.]

[sorry, it's hard for her not to. she'll take a few steps forward and kneel down, patting the top of his head gently. kind of like, say, Riku would.]

I'm sure you'll regain them all in due time, Kai.

D'you really think so?

[looks up at her hopefully.]

It's plausible at the very least. Many victims of amnesia regain hold their memories.
