[Have a merman in the middle of the hall that looks immensely confused. Apparently, sticking him in merman form was the best costume the smoke could come up with.]

[why yes, that is a very tall, purple, gargoyle-Kairi standing over there.]

[not particularly surprised with the whole being purple thing, because he's used to weird things. He thinks the normal people are almost weirder.]

[her wings are hooked together in the front like a cape, but she walks over anyway, kneeling down beside him.]

I think I'm strong enough to pick you up like this. Where would you like to go?

[shrug, he's not too familiar with all the different places.]

A bathroom? One with a tub and not a . . . I think they're called showers.

[hooks her arms up under him, in that case, giving a nod.]

Alright. There's one not far from here.

[is going with the flow ~~because that's what Crush always told him~~ because he couldn't go anywhere anyways.]

Thanks. Do things like this happen often? [obviously not used to this.]

[lifts him up with apparent ease, starting to carry him down the hall.]

Sometimes. This isn't the first time I changed, but it doesn't happen too often. Someone I know turned into a dragon once.

[looks up at you, he's trying to think of why anyone would turn into a sea dragon and how that would work.]

Dra . . . Gon? But they'd need water, like me. Sea dragons are very touchy creatures, you know. I'm glad the changing doesn't happen so often though.

[laughs a little, turning a corner.]

Don't worry, it doesn't. And he was a land dragon, I think. I've never met a sea dragon before.

There are land dragons? Are they leafy? How big are they?

[very interested because cats =/= catfish.]

[shakes her head, nudging open a door with her tail.]

No, he was black and kind of... shiny. But he definitely wasn't a sea dragon. He had these huge wings.

[apparently land creatures are much more complicated than sea creatures.]

Like . . . Like a bird! So land dragons are like birds?

Sort of. But most dragons don't have feathers.

[oh look, it's a bathroom - with a very big tub, too, which she'll be walking over to set him down inside.]

[notices the bathtub and is relieved because drying out is no fun.]

Are they scaly?

Yep! That's how they're usually seen, anyway.

[sets him down, standing upright again once she's done.]

[turns a knob to put water in tub]

That sounds awesome! Oh, I forgot to ask what your name is.

I'll find you a picture of one. And my name's Kairi. You're Sora, right?

[nod nod]

But I'm actually a merman.

[blinks at him.]

That's not just for Halloween?

Um, well . . . [tries to think of how to explain] I'm usually not a merman unless I'm in water? But I guess instead of a costume the smoke decided to change me back?

Wow.

[looks genuinely impressed, grinning down at him.]

That's really cool. At least you're something familiar?

I guess I like this better than having to sing so much. And yeah, at least I'm not a . . . Dead . . . Thing.

[doesn't know what you call the zombie he saw earlier]

[laughs.]

Yeah, there are some pretty crazy outfits and changes going around. But it's kind of nice. It's really festive around here, anyway.

I think I like this better than the spontaneous singing back home. It's a much quieter way to celebrate.

Wow. I can't imagine that happening around here.

[tilts her head.]

So is your home the ocean?

[nod nod]

I live in Atlantis.

[looks surprised, then grins.]

Wow. That's amazing.

I think abovesea is pretty amazing so I guess it's just what you're used to. Because, seriously, the TV is awesome. We don't have anything like that at home.

Yeah. Something that's completely normal to you can be totally new to someone else here. It's kind of neat how that works out.

[laughs again.]

Have you ever played a video game?

A video game? [why yes, super-curious about this]

It's a game you can play on the TV.

Really? [seems overly exited] That sounds even better than the movie.

[grins! it's always fun introducing people to games around here.]

They're a lot of fun. You can play them alone, or some with friends, too.

As soon as I'm out of this form, I am totally going to play one.

There's an entire room a few halls over where you can find all kinds of video games. I can show them to you later, if you want.

Yay! You know, you're pretty awesome, Kairi. The Kairi is my world is always making me play house with her. She's also my sister.

[laughs.]

[counts on fingers] 21. Yup, she's one of my sisters.
