You just put your clothes in here, put the soap back there, then set the weight, the temperature of the water, and how powerful it works. It does the rest by itself.

Push the first knob it and scroll to 50, no matter what you're washing. then switch the second to 'cold-cold'. If you're washing something big, like a blanket, set the third to heavy, everything else you set to light. The compartment for the soap is on the back, if you open that up it has a scooper with load sizes down the side. That's basically it.
