[Kairi here is sitting on the nearest couch, a sword laying across her knees. She's running a few fingers over the flat side of the blade, expression thoughtful. Someone's given herself a mission and wants to go through with it, and, really now, pressing buttons on a controller isn't the same as being in the action.]

I need someone to help me learn how to fight.

[excuse him for hovering a little; it's been a while since he last saw his own Kairi.]

[jumps a little, then blinks up at him and smiles.]

Yep. I want to learn how to fight for real.

I can help you!

But, you have to promise me you'll be careful.

[she's laughing a bit at that.]

I will, don't worry. It's mainly so I'm not caught helpless. Could you really help?

'Course! It's been a while since I've trained myself.

Great! Thanks-- Sora, right?

Oh -- yeah, sorry about that.

[because he's not really used to having to introduce himself to Kairis, so formalities were lost somewhere in there. he motions for her to follow him, to somewhere more suitable for training.]

Just wanted to make sure.

[and she's hopping up to follow him, of course, bringing the sword with her.]

[the ballroom seems like a pretty good place to train; it's spacious and mostly abandoned for now.]

So .. you want to fight with a sword?

[luckily that's Sora's area of expertise -- well, as much of an expert as he can be at hitting things repeatedly with the Keyblade, anyway. still, there were some basics he could probably explain, and he summons his own weapon.]

[nods-- well, as much as she can before she starts in surprise, staring at him.]

I've never seen a Sora do that before. But, yes. I thought a sword would be best for me.

All right then! I guess we can start with your center of gravity.

[he's certainly not a swordfighting guru, but he'll help her along until she finds a fighting position that works best, being extra gentle when he guides her with his hands.]

[after a few minutes he steps back to take a look at how she's standing.]

... I know that's really uncomfortable, but, if you hold that position when you're fighting, it's gonna be real hard to knock you over.

[it is pretty uncomfortable, but she tries to keep in that position, concentration clear on her face. she's grateful for the help, really.]

Yeah, not really. But I think I can do this. ...It'll get easier, right?

What do you need to learn how to fight for?

Defense, and to be able to protect people. With all the Heartless and danger around here, I don't want to find myself in a bad situation and be helpless again.

[and here comes Ienzo, walking right up to her]

I'm sure that someone would be more than willing to assist you.

[looks up and smiles.]

That's what I'm hoping for.

[and he'll go ahead and take a seat next to her]

I suppose it's a necessary factor of 'tanking'?

[grins and moves that sword out so it's held down in front of her, tapping the end to the toe of her shoe.]

More often than not, yeah.

Well, I wish you luck, then. You certainly seem more capable than I would.

You really think so?

[smiling]

Absolutely. Besides, I've never been one for fighting, anyway.

[laughs a little.]

Well, thank you. I don't think I'll be charging into battle at any point, but I'm going to do my best. Real fighting is going to be a lot different than what I'm used to.

Well, sometimes it's best to take things slowly, to learn bit by bit.

That's what I'm going to do. There's no point-- Well, like... taking on a level fifty monster when you're level ten. Bad idea.

True enough. It's always best to take one's own strength into consideration, as well as their opponent.
