A cross and a girl named Blessed.
There's a pretty girl somewhere with a pretty name, but I can never let you know how much this means~
[someone's feeling pretty musical, but he hasn't touched a piano in a while, so he's rusty. he's kind of feeling nostalgic and he really missesMickey his lessons, so here's where he has to improvise.]

I swear I'll end this war 'cause we both know it wasn't worth fighting for-

I wear Gods name upon my wrist but you might as well tear my skin off
She's letting go convictions, to release the ghost inside
To release all the suffering of a cross and a girl I sing
I love you way too much, so I'll say I hate you for tonight

Did you ever think, that maybe your life,
Is heading in the wrong direction, baby
[the playing gets louder, more harsh as he drums on the lower notes, shimmying higher and settling in one distinct area before he settles into something soft, singing low again.]
There's a cross up on the wall
See from the corner of your eye
When you're dead and on your knees
And she's begging please
So go and lay back down tonight
Because we won't know who are
Until you're dead and on your knees
And you're begging please
[three more keys, hold, and let go. then he sighs, just staring down at the piano like he's waiting for it to say something about his playing.]

--you said you were good, but I didn't know you were that good.

I still need a lot more practice before I'm anything worth noting.

[he's a cuffed pup regardless, shrinking back and biting into the rind.]
You're the one who always said to come hang out at the piano.

Your brother showed up by now?
[because he hasn't seen the guy, then again he hasn't been around much himself, too tired to move around anymore.]

[huff. okay, that's a sensitive subject.]
You think I'd be that lucky?

Guess they're getting kind of dry, though.
[he'll keep thinking about it though, those wee hours of the morning where he's still awake and still gasping for breath because his heart just won't shut up, he'll think about how that kid should get his brother, or about how that guy that teases him should find someone else to tease.]

[or at least it looks that way; and he's not flying off the handle today, so maybe that's a plus.]

[sighs, rubbing the heel of a palm at his bagged and tired eyes.]

[so he turns his attention away, figuring the piano will calm him down more than that, so he plays.]

[starts chewing on the peel. it's a bitter taste, and that could be what he wants.]

I know we're all born just to die anyway, but what's the point in making a kid that's screwed in the end, you know? I want to believe there's someone out there I can bitch at for dooming half of my stupid life to a hospital bed.

I hear Hell has better bands, anyhow.

[skates his fingers across the keys, and then,]
If I fell in love with you, would you promise to be true and help me understand?

'Cause I've been in love before, and I found out love was more than just holding hands~
