[there's some muffled laughter behind a door, and when it opens a second later, Riku's halfway there in getting his swimming trunks off.]

That still doesn't change who you are and who I wound up being.

[blows a significant amount of air into his empty box, dropping it to the ground and stomping on it with a loud pop. he's just waiting for this guy to pick a damn room already.]

[puts his hands in the air. he shouldn't be feeling so threatened, but he's a little high-strung, too.]

Look, I'm just one guy. I hang out with my friends and go to school and most of us are moving to the mainland for university soon so we can all get on with our lives.

[because maybe a ten-second life story will help clear the air.]

And I got tortured my whole life for having the same face as you.

[kicks the flattened box to the side, still gnawing on the straw.]

Never bothered me enough to switch schools though, because Riku was the kind of guy you couldn't ever really get pissed off at.

[sorry, you've officially lost him at 'same face'. someone isn't seeing the resemblance here.]

I'm just wondering where the similarities come from.

The only difference is that my hair's shorter, I'm younger, and I wear eyeliner.

[that's when he looks so apologetic.]

[knowing his luck, that'll just be treated as an insult, though.]

Like I said, I wasn't the one who made them call me a wannabe. They're just dumb jaded fans.

[steps back, frowning.]

Maybe you can think of it as a fresh start.

I don't know, I was pretty set on keeping to myself.

[he suddenly looks a little weary, too.]

[that sounds like a cue to him.]

[pauses for a moment, then takes a deep breath.]

Just. Listen, I can take Riku being a total jerkoff, and I can take Riku being a sweetheart, but it's the middle road that's confusing the hell out of me and that's about where you are.

Like I said, there's a thousand other people you can cater to. It's really not that hard to make friends.
