(no subject)

[ Guess what, DR. It's Riku's birthday. She's a whole twenty-one years old now, not counting any possible timeline jumping around. She's also had her costume for a couple days now, and because her apartment isn't quite big enough, she's taken over one of the main kitchens. Yep. Sure is a cauldron sitting there. Riku's a witch. She's at the table, a half-carved jack-o-lantern to her side and a book of spells and potions open in front of her. Maybe someone should investigate what she's doing before her putrid purple concoction boils over.

If they can get inside at all, that is. There's a tiny Kairi in an adorable pink costume, squealing with laughter as she flies around on a broomstick. Obviously not Riku's influence.

[hay sup lady. Axel's in his costume as well, and tracked her down to give her her birthday presents and also just hang out. the only thing on him that isn't part of the costume is a bag slung over one shoulder, which is where the presents are. he's armed to the teeth, but it's still him. somehow he's managing to hide all of his hair inside that hood. magic, i guess. Kairi is a pleasant surprise, because he hasn't seen her in a while. she's going to get twirled if she comes down from there. P: ]

Do I even want to know what's in that pot?

[Red is dressed rather oddly when he enters - despite the outfit seeming designed for a woman, he's still male at the moment and he really hates that the zipper won't go any higher, but whatever. He pulls a downright acrobatic move to avoid getting creamed by the tiny flying Kairi, not even really looking when he does it. He definitely couldn't move like that before. His hair looks a touch more red, if looked at closely. It's not an Axel red, at least.]

I feel like I've walked into a cliche.

[Unfortunately, this guy doesn't know Riku's birthday, and thus doesn't have any presents for her. Fortunately, his costume is of the less-visible variety, and he's dressed fairly normally. He's in the kitchen somewhat randomly anyway. After nearly colliding with Kairi as she flew by, that is.]

What's with the cauldron?

[Riku does a sort of double-take when she looks up at him. Her black dress seems pretty plain in comparison. But she has black and green stripped stockings, so she wins anyway.]

Probably not... You look ready to go into battle.

[Riku could probably try to magic up the zipper... but she's not going to offer. She's watching him with an expression made more dull by his comment.]

I've been to Halloween Town, and you don't get to talk about cliches.

[She knows what some vampires are like there. All bluh bluh arm movements.]

Nice outfit.

[She's not really expecting or wanting presents. It just feels like another day to her, since she's not celebrating it by getting drunk or anything like that. He probably got a "sorry" yelled at him by Kairi.]

Cooking lessons. Can you pass the salt?

You should see the moves it comes with.

[Yes, he's going so far as to waggle his eyebrows. He's managing to walk pretty smoothly despite the chunky heel of his boots, and peers into the cauldron curiously when he reaches it.]

So what are you brewing?

I know, right? I didn't even carry this many weapons on me when I was a full-time ninja. Check this one out.

[he moves closer and pops the hidden blade, holding his arm up so she can see. he's even missing the appropriate finger for it, and seems to have taken it in stride. she's free to ask about it, though, and the bag, since he doesn't exactly carry one around ever.]

Love potions.

[She's full of shit. But she's also crossing her arms over the book anyway. Haha, she's not telling. Possibly because she's watching him walk in that thing. Moves is right.]

[She leans back because hello blade, but as she's checking it out she notices the missing finger and is a little more alarmed than him.]

What happened to your hand?

[He'll make it up to her around Christmas, whether she likes it or not. Also drunk is overrated around here, considering the DR's nature.]

I don't think salt will help it much.

[But he'll locate it and hold it out to her anyway.]

[He shoots her a disbelieving look before turning his attention back to the cauldron. He looks about ready to dip a gloved finger in so he can taste whatever it is.]

[It really is. She snorts, but takes it and shakes it into her hand.]

It's one of the ingredients.

[Five shakes, and then she's setting it down and dusting her hands of the salt over the cauldron.]

[She props her chin up with one hand, waiting to see if he'll actually do it. It's apparently harmless enough that she's not jumping up to stop him, anyway.]

[Red gives her a brief look to make sure, not that there would be much that could really hurt him in the first place, costume or not. He does sink his fingers into the purple mess briefly, rubbing what he collects between them for a moment before popping them in his mouth. What did he just put in there?]

Came with the outfit. I think it's so the blade has a place to go.

[he retracts it with a movement of his arm and grins at her. he didn't have to go through actually getting it chopped off, so who cares? he's leaning over to sniff the cauldron, too, and scrunches his face up to fight off a sneeze.]

For what?

[He's cautiously peering into the cauldron to see what whatever she's making looks like.]

This is why you get yourself into trouble. If that had actually been a love potion you'd be pretty screwed right now.

[She's flipping a couple pages back to check, because there is actually a love potion recipe in there. Whatever's in the cauldron is thin and tastes kind of like a warm, melty rich syrup, or a more floral and fruity honey and chocolate mixture. It'll start to fizz when it reaches his throat, like carbonation. Or poprocks.]

[He hums thoughtfully at the taste and feeling, licking his glove clean.]

If it had actually been a love potion, you wouldn't have let me do it in the first place.

I guess that makes sense-- Don't sneeze in it!

[She jumps up from her, totally panicking.]

[Stop that, it makes it hard to concentrate.]

I might have, to teach you a lesson. I think I could deal with you being unbearably in love with me long enough to fix the antidote.

[Obviously! No, she's feeling sarcastic tonight, but she gestures over to the book.]

I'm testing out a couple of the more simple recipes. Just to see what I can do.

[So, no change in him at all, is what you're saying. He makes a face at the very idea.]

Are you sure? That sounds horrifying.

I'm not gonna, it just smells really weird.

[he rubs his nose to make sure he's not actually going to sneeze, and then sidles around the table to get further away from the cauldron. he's setting his bag on the table, too. has Kairi noticed him yet?]

[But she doesn't know what you're talking about.]

I think I'd just lock you in a closet.
