[Today's setting is a pretty field with patches of flowers and rolling hills and glens and little groves of trees. Beautiful. And yet, Mr. Sourpuss here isn't enjoying it. Sure, he's parked under a tree, seemingly asleep. But he's not. He's annoyed, arms crossed over his chest. There is no sign of Hyrule, or anything like Hyrule. This is the closest he can find right now. So, sure enough, no way home.

...Maybe he could build a village here. Similar to Kakariko back home...]

[There's a rustling from somewhere above him in the tree. If he looks, he'll see a Sora spread out precariously in the branches. He looks to be asleep, and is only wearing a pair of blood-stained paopu and teddy-bear boxers.]

[Well. That's not... Disturbing... He really hopes he got into a fight with some monster.]

...You probably shouldn't sleep up there.

[In a manner of speaking. The rest of Sora is wrapped in bandages, though he doesn't seem to be bleeding at all. Riku's voice makes him stir a little, starting to shift.]

Nnnn...

[If he's not asleep, then he'll probably notice the other Riku standing nearby. Especially when she pokes him in the shoulder with one (bare) foot.]

[Riku's going to stand up and be prepared just in case Sora rolls out of the tree.]

Hey. It's not safe to sleep up there.

[...Ew. Keep that to yourself. Though he will open an eye and look up.]

Do you need something?

[Excuse you. She's allowed to go barefoot if she wants, since there's no one here to tell her she can't.]

No. I thought you were asleep.

[At least don't touch him with your bare feet.]

Why? Because my eyes were closed?

People normally sleep with their eyes closed, so yes. I would sleep out here, it's nice.

[~~/touch touch touch~~ Actually, she'll just sit down nearby, pulling up her knees so her legs and feet are under her skirt.]

...It's too open. There are too many angles one could be attacked from. And I'd rather not become a monster's meal because I carelessly slept somewhere open.

[He's got a point. She's not usually concerned about that. Usually she has guards to ~~hover annoyingly~~ keep her safe from monsters.]

If you aren't sleeping, what are you doing lying here?

Trying to figure out what to do with my life.

[He can't do what he was previously, after all.]

Wishing I could just go home.

[Good thinking, Riku. Sora's too disoriented to realize he's even in one until it's too late. He makes a quick grab for a branch, but it snaps under his weight and sends him tumbling down to Riku with a hoarse yell.]

...It's a kingdom I'm from.

[Well, good thing Riku is basically a ninja! He'll catch Sora and carefully set him down.]

You okay?

[Sora still looks shaken from how he woke up, but he nods anyway.]

... Riku? Where am I?

I don't think I'm the Riku you know, first of all. Second of all, you're in a field. You were sleeping in a tree.

[Why does he have a weakness for Soras.]

Well, no.. My Riku didn't have red eyes. I wasn't trying to sleep up there.

[His eyes widen, then he looks sad as realization kicks in.]

What's wrong?

[Don't mind if he checks you over to see if you're okay.]

Oh, your kingdom? It's not one I've ever heard of...what's it like?

I died.

[He feels bad about it, because he'd had someone there for him who had already done so much.]

[Give him a moment to comprehend that.]

What!?

[Sora flinches, and gestures vaguely at his bloodstained shorts and bandages. He isn't bleeding now, so he starts carefully unwinding some from his arm.]

I didn't mean to! It just.. happened when I fell asleep I guess.

But you're right here.

[...Excuse him, he's still new to death in the DR.]

It just got out of a civil war. There are many races, now united under the King of Hyrule. We live in a land blessed by the goddesses.

I've always heard death in this place isn't permanent, but I wasn't expecting to experience it.

[Hear that? That is the sound of Riku's brain breaking. Death is sacred to the Sheikah.]

[Sora pauses when he sees Riku's expression. Under the bandages he's removed so far, there seems to be hundreds of small, circular scars.]

Riku? Are you okay?
