[It takes a substantial couch to accommodate Kurt outside of his fully human form. But he's found one, in a warm common room with rich hangings on the walls and a blazing fire, and is gently flicking through a book, seemingly the most harmless a big old Heartless can be. Tricky with clawed fingers, but he's not so clumsy as to rip the pages.

Just something he found, left casually in his room as if it were any other possession.

A photo album.

He carefully picks through it; it's images of what look to be - his life here? Or ... a life he could have had here. Layla's childhood, his relationship - other children? He's interacting with young apparent-humans and Heartless who seem to share some of his traits...

A violent headshake and he throws the book aside, across the room. He's sure that the version of him who lived that life was happy.
But he's equally sure it's a life he can't live now.]

... do you want to talk about it? Layla says you can be weird sometimes.

[that should give a clue as to who Kira is; also the Darkness that's in her should have a particular familiar scent]

[He blinks.]

You know Layla?

[And she says what? Hm. Maybe a hint of something, there... he's not willing to entirely commit to his guess, though.]

Of course I know Layla. We're friends.

[hold on, thinking...]

Oh, you're the younger Mister Kurt!

The 'younger Mister Kurt'? I'll admit, that's a new one on me.

[Pause.]

You're another one from her time, then? From that future?

[Seeming a little subdued...]

Uh huh. You're my cousin Riku's best friend or something. But he's a little weird and always making weapons.

... what do you mean, 'that future'?

[In answer, he goes to retrieve the book, flips it open to a page that shows a happy Layla sitting on her father's shoulders.]

The future so many seem to hail from.

[Kira looks at the picture and then smiles]

Oh yeah! That's where I'm from. Us future kids kind of stick together. Especially since you already know my cousin.

Glad that I do. He's an ... interesting one.

[He gives her a slight smile back, but it fades.]

And it's the future that's on my mind, girl.

My name's Kira.

[she's named 'sparkle' of course she is]

Why are you thinking of the future? It's not here yet.

Because enough evidence from it - from one - decided to make itself known.

[you've lost her]

... huh?

This book, girl.

[He pages through it.]

The visions of a future I could have had. And to some extent, as far as I know, did in a way - do any of these look familiar to you?

[Showing Kira some of the pictures of him with other Heartless-kids.]

[Kira peers at the book, recognizing some things but not recognizing others]

Some of them do. Why are you saying you 'could' have had this future? You still might. Layla is my friend after all, and she's here too in this time, I think.

Hm. She is, as a person from your time: but I have not seen her mother in what are years for me, for one. There are so many changes in the flow of time... and it simply makes me think.

Well, the best thing to do is not to worry about it. My parents told me that you shouldn't try to influence the future too much, since things might go wrong and you might not be born or something. You should just be happy that you have Layla, since she's proof of the future.

Hah. Very sensible advice.

[He smiles faintly, though still full of conflict about it.
Would that even be a future he wants?]

It's not sensible, it's just true. Though... err... you're not the way I remember you looking.

I never learned this skill, in your time? [A brief page through-] Hah. Layla did seem somewhat surprised by it, when I first learned. I could still seem human if I desired; it simply seems to me that there is little point in my pretending to be something I'm not.

Well, I don't know if you could do it or not. Just every time I saw you, you were... errr... human-ish.

[He nods.] It's often been practical to do so. Is it concerning you that I'm not at present?

Oh no! You're still you, no matter what form you're in. I can see that sort of thing.

Hah. Good to hear that perspective.

Is it? You mean people treat you different?

Perhaps not those who know me already... but introduce myself with a human's face, introduce myself with this one, and I've seen plenty of difference in reactions.

[Never mind his full-size form.]

That's because you're very big and scary looking and people expect you to try and eat them.
