[So what we appear to have here is a Xeha with a pushchair. A very scientifically designed looking one, but still... A little father-daughter expedition through the first of the changing leaves on a tree-lined street. Young Desiree's apparently very interested in a plush pumpkin - strange, her father was sure he picked up the squeaky blue turtle, but if she's having fun... and he's looking around, resting a little notebook on one of the stroller handles and making records as he walks, giving a bit of a narration.]

No, that last place wouldn't do. Too many stairs. We'd never get you up and down them. Not to mention all my equipment...

[A babyish chiming in-] Abuh? Dada? Bagabwa...

[And as if she'd made sense-] No, your daddy's just looking for the best for both of us. Come on.

[And between one moment and the next, there's a Braig coming up behind him.]

Thought I might find you around here sooner or late.

[He turns as soon as he hears the voice, smiling- huh, is he seeing right?]

Just got some business to take care of, that's all.

[That is most definitely an older-looking Braig, yep.]

Naw, really. I wouldn't have guessed.

[Interesting. And now to work out the details... is this one from his future, or his own past timeline somehow... all so complicated.]

Guess I was stating the obvious. [Laugh.] I'm looking for a bigger place. My apartment's not big enough for myself and Desiree, and I need some more workspace.

[Well, he could ask for details, but how much Braig is likely to give in response is up in the air.]

That's kids for you, the way I hear it.

Never had any yourself, I take it? I'm sure I've not let you get out of babysitting this one.

Come on, you know I haven't had any. Haven't exactly been looking to either.

[He shrugs.] Thought so. Just wondered what'd happened since you were back here last, is all. I can tell you aren't from the last time I saw you.

[There's a bit of a pause and the one of his trademark grins.]

Oh, I could give you a couple of hints, if you needed 'em.

[The grin's returned.]

Presumably of the very cryptic sort.

Hey, you know me.

Too well. [He laughs.] So what about these hints, then?

[There's a considering sort of pause, and then he calls up his guns. The ones he's used ever since getting through with that damned castle; weapons that are a far cry indeed from the ones he used back when he was still 'just' a castle guard.]

How's that for a start?

[Smiling slightly-] Oh, that says a lot. So finished with everything back home, huh?

As long as you don't run off to do the hero thing again, yeah.

Well, I haven't had any hero things lined up in a while, so I think we're good.

Heh. Kinda glad to hear it. Not really sure I'm cut out for that life.

[Since there's no reason to keep them out, he lets his guns vanish.]

Well, you did the best you could. It's all I've asked for.

Took me a while to get there, but yeah.

[He just gives a warm smile at that-] Things move on.

[And Braig nods in response.]

I kinda noticed, yeah.

Been okay since then, though?

Course I have.
