[though it's late in the evening, a certain redhead is sprawled out on his stomach in the residential area's park. several small orbs of his Light bob around like fireflies, keeping his little area well lit even in the quickly approaching dark of night. he's got a gaming console in one hand, his chin resting on the arm of his other as he watches a small video clip. his expression is sad, and the audio is high enough that anyone approaching can probably hear.]

[Kais should not be sad, which is why there's an almost fourteen-month-old girl with furry ears toddling across the grass towards the orbs of Light. her daddy can do that too, and she and Apricot like chasing them! she's looking mighty adorable in a lime green romper with a panda face on the front, and no shoes, because shoes are for people with socks. she stumbles a little when she goes after one of the orbs, toppling onto her hands and chubby knees, and her face crinkles up like she's going to cry. Axel's following her at a short distance, waiting to see how Kai reacts before he rushes over.]

[Kai is... honestly surprised by the presence of both of them, but pauses the game nonetheless to push himself up and move to pick the little girl up gently. several of the little orbs are going to start moving around them, mostly to distract the baby from crying.]

[oh okay. she's pretty easy to distract, after all, and someone who looks and smells basically like her daddy is an excellent distraction, especially when combined with the orbs. she coos at him and rests her head on his shoulder, flailing a tiny fist at the closest orb, while Axel strolls up with his hands in his pockets, smiling at them.]

Almost feels familiar.

[He should recognize that voice. It belongs to someone he knows very well, quietly walking up to him. But he probably felt her coming long before that.]

[He's certainly gotten someone's attention with the voices coming from that thing. Sora's attention is diverted to the orbs as soon as he looks over though, slowing to a stop to watch them.]

[he takes a moment to calm himself, because wow okay random older him's baby here. not something he was expecting. Axel's getting a smile in return, as well as a questioning look.]

Hi.

[he did, but he likes letting people announce their own presence, most of the time.]

Does it?

[several of them start drifting toward Sora almost curiously, though Kai isn't looking over just yet.]

Yeah. Things like that.

[She nods her head, indicating what's going on in the game. Terra's guilt. Xehanort's hand in it. You know.]

[right, right. he sighs softly, nodding.]

It's... such a shame. Sure, the darkness is dangerous in the wrong hands and all... but people like Xehanort, they give it such a bad name. And hurt so many people while doing so.

Mm. Makes me wonder how things would've turned out if Xehanort had never existed.

[Considering how far his (or her) influenced reached in people that gave it a bad name. Once she's close enough she takes a seat beside him, looking calm and thoughtful.]

Well... so far it seems like the trio in this game would never have had a reason to leave before they were ready, there would still be true Keyblade Masters around, I would never have been sent away from Radiant Garden...

[the last bit makes his brow furrow as he trails off. he can't really imagine it at all.]

[Oh well hello. When they get close he's looking ready to duck if need be, one hand lifted in front of him as if he'd like to touch but he really isn't sure if he should try. He's never seen anything like them before.]

Mm... Maybe it wouldn't be that great.

[Yep, that's Riku. Sacrificing unknown numbers of worlds and countless people to have her best friends. Yep.]

[Sora seems to have been making quite a habit of coming out late for a walk. don't be surprised when he happens upon you, clearly enchanted with the little orbs of Light. he wonders if he could make them dance with him if he started twirling around them.]

[when they do get close enough to touch him, it's featherlight and as though a gentle warmth has brushed past. Kai has since paused his game and is sitting up, watching Sora curiously.]

Of course, if Xehanort hadn't existed, or hadn't managed to mess everything up in the beginning, it's not like we'd know things could have been any different...

[but he's definitely glad things turned out how they did in the long run. it makes him sad what had to happen to get there, but he can't change the past, so he isn't going to dwell on it.]

[Sora's presence is always a welcome one, and if he does indeed start trying to get them to move with him, Kai will be more than happy to quietly oblige and have them swirling along.]

[He absolutely will try to get the orbs to swirl and play with him, but he smiles over towards you as he's flapping and twirling.]

Hey, it's my favorite Kai of them all!

[She waits a beat, then abruptly leans forward to wrap her arms around his shoulders.]

[Sora seems to have forgotten all about Kai. The warmth when one touches him elicits a surprised sound from him, and he'll try to get a closer look. What are they? How solid are they? He's incredibly curious to know.]

Hi. I can take her if you want, I'd understand if you were uncomfortable with her. I think it was the light that attracted her, my Kai does that for her and Apricot sometimes.

[it was bound to happen eventually, right? they don't live that far from each other, and considering how often Axel's out with Inaya...]

I think I'd be a bit worried if you had a different favourite Kai!

[that's all in good humour, of course. the lights bob and twirl with him as Kai watches, smiling softly at the display.]

[he laughs a bit, then moves to hug her back tightly. he's not going to question it.]

[There's a muffled 'hmm' and then she shakes her head.]

I could tell if something was missing.
