sand in our stilettos

[How are you liking the summer heat, DR? On the beach is a certain jailbait teenage girl, wearing a cute two-piece and soaking up the rays. The water looks awfully nice and cool and refreshing at the moment though, but Kira is making sure to rub a good layer of sunscreen on before hitting the waves. Maybe you'd like to have some beach fun, too?]

[There's a sudden yelp and movement nearby; looks like someone took a tumble off the boardwalk and is now rolling unceremoniously down the beach. He didn't have too much momentum though, stopping halfway to where Kira is in a crumpled lump of dark green tights, long brown tunic and... orange sneakers. Not too far from where he is there's a wooden crutch.]

She's currently wandering along the edge of the water, unsure whether or not to jump or wade in.]

Why shouldn't I swim? It's hot and swimming is good for cooling down, and it's fun and good exercise. And of course you bathe in water! If you didn't, you'd be all stinky and dirty and get diseases.

You're not supposed to get all wet. You'll get sick!

[He and his clothing both could do with a bit of a wash. He's sort-of cleaner than most boys, but the closest he comes to a good soak is a wet cloth swiftly followed by getting dry immediately. With good reason, he thinks.]
