[if Kai seems a little different today, it's because he is! his Halloween costume has settled in, and he's a Pokémon. kind of. he's in the kitchen, swinging his legs a little as he sips a soda and stares at the table. feel free to ignore the moving salt and pepper shakers, he's just testing out his new ~psychicness~. but don't worry, he can't read minds or anything.]

[Bellaxene is watching warily. Psychics have pretty much never meant anything good for her, though to be fair the only ones she's met are Vampxel and his Saïx.

Akane waddles over to him in her Yoshi costume. "Is kitty," she declares, pointing at Kai's new ears.]

Oh that's cool!

[Hikari has meandered in, not in her costume; apparently the DR hasn't decided to embarrass her yet. So she's climbing up into a chair across and watching you quietly.]

[Hello, Kai. Riku's in her Halloween Town outfit, which means black, black, black, just like it did last year. There are some alterations from the previous one, one of which he will probably notice when she speaks.]

Nice ears.

[In case you can't tell, she is really amused, even as her eyes wander to the seasonings.]

[the shakers get set down neatly on the table, and he tilts his head at Larxene.]

[though how he knew that was simply figuring out why she would be wary when he's got no reason to attack her.]

It is pretty neat.

[the gem on his forehead is glowing a tiny bit from the use of his new powers!]

Nice teeth.

[she gets an amused smile, and the shakers start bobbing their way over to her.]

[she may or may not have a fresh bite, depending how things go with Vampxel, so that would explain things anyway.]

I'm not worried.

[She snaps those teeth at him with a click of her jaws, then scrambles to dodge past the shakers so she can reach the fridge.]

Don't you get that in my hair.

Alright.

[he sets his soda down and hops off the table, tail curling downward. he'd offer her a Cure if she is injured, but his regular powers are currently locked down.]

I wasn't going to!

[he's hurt by the accusation. really. they chase her a bit, then settle back down on the table.]

[she's probably picked up some scrapes and bruises anyway, since the costume seems to have come with two left feet, but she'll manage.]

Don't grab his tail, Akane.

[Hikari just watches quietly then takes hold of the salt shaker, giving Kai a grin as if daring him to try to pull it out of her hand with his powers]

Of course not.

[Oh sure he is. Riku bats her hands at them a little (her nails are black!), but settles down when they leave and just... moves to the fridge.]

So when did those show up?

Would she be grabbing it hard?

[the tail will move out of the reach of tiny hands, for now.]

[...how about instead he concentrates and pulls some of the salt out of the shaker, sprinkling it on her hand?]

About half an hour ago. D'you know anything about Pokémon?

[Well that makes her jump a little and let go.]

Wow, wish I could do that.

[Whoops swayed a little in her step. But she reaches the fridge safely and opens it up.]

Probably not but I'm trying to make her stop doing that.

["Kitty," Akane repeats.]

[he nods and crouches down by Akane, holding his tail toward her. if she tries to grab, there will be a nice little psychic barrier in the way. but if it's just petting or touching, there won't be!]

You shouldn't grab kitty tails. It makes owies for them.

[...and for the person grabbing, sometimes. claws~. luckily Kai doesn't have those.]

It's interesting, but I can't use my regular abilities.

[do you need an escort around the kitchen. :|]

Well, I'm a pokémon, sort of. I think. Obviously I'm not fully one, but I seem to have the abilities.

[No, she's just having some trouble walking. She'll be fine, and even pauses in her search to cross her arms over the open fridge door so she can focus on Kai.]

Halloween striking early, Kai?

[luckily this time Akane just wants to touch it. They're getting through to her... maybe.]
