Well, actually, he's just curious. Not about science, for a change, but morality. Or... erm, one specific moral issue. Something he truly finds intriguing.

And so, he'll ask several people a simple question:]

What are your thoughts on marriage here? After all, this world has no laws to speak of.

[No, it's not because he's ready for it himself, honest! That doesn't make the question any less awkward, however.]

But marriage, to some, is about more than its technicalities. To some, it's about strengthening a relationship. To that end, simply calling it done might not have the same impact as going through the motions.

People are creatures of habit. More over, if someone is truly important to them, then an actual ceremony may be a means of expressing their devotion.

Perhaps it's cliché, but I imagine that there are a few who feel this way.

There's that and the fact that people here do enjoy parties, along with any form of celebration. It would be something to do, to that end.

Well, going to the effort of planning things and all shows how much you really care. Marriage isn't just a title, after all.

Because the idea that taking that 'next step' proves devotion is a lie. People change, they cheat, they fall out of love.

Quite true. Besides, in a world such as this, the financial and legal benefits of marriage are rather moot, leaving the sentimentality alone.

Plenty of people get married without having a big ceremony, you know. At least where I come from.

[Admittedly, it's pretty rare for a place like Destiny Islands, but it happens. Now she has to wonder about weddings in Radiant Garden.]
