--yes, I know. You don't need to tell me again.

[there's a woman with green-tinted skin standing behind Riku, a slender hand coming to rest on his shoulder. his armor immediately springs up as his expression darkens, though whether it's because of the touch or something else is up for debate.

he steps away as a burst of green fire engulfs her, leaving him alone in the hall- or almost. there's a black crow swooping in to rest on his shoulder as he starts toward one of the common areas.]

[look out for the kid running toward you, Riku! he's looking back, so he hasn't noticed he's about to run into someone.]

Hey, watch it!

[stopping you with a hand to the head, yes.]

--sorry!

[he stops, looking very apologetic, before glancing behind him. he's being followed by a Soldier. 8C]

[there's a loud caw from the crow at his shoulder, and Riku crosses his arms.]

Maybe if you look where you're going, you won't have to be sorry.

[he jumps a bit at the caw, then pouts heavily.]

I was just makin' sure the Heartless didn't get me...

[the Heartless that is starting to become audible, clanking along further down the hall.]

You mean that Heartless~? Pretty sure you'd know if it got you. What with the claws and all.

[yeah, he's.. not doing anything about it.]

I know that!

[man, you're kind of a slow Riku aren't you. that's okay, he has no problem sliding behind the older boy to keep away from the Heartless. he trusts Rikus too much.]

What do you think you're doing?

[Riku isn't even giving the Heartless a second look, too busy scowling at the kid behind him.]

[he looks up at Riku, worried and confused.]

You're not gonna make it go away?

Who says I'm supposed to?

[the bird, it is fluttering its wings and trying to peck at some red hair.]

I... I thought everyone was s'posed to- hey!

[and he'll be trying to cover his hair and move away from the bird. the Soldier's moving closer, having paused for a moment upon coming across the new individual.]

Supposed to what? I'm not a baby-sitter, kid.

[he isn't bothered by the Heartless at all. no, he's a little busy being distracted by the necklace the kid is wearing.]

S'posed to make the Heartless go away...

[since he can't do it himself and all. and what, you mean that necklace that looks exactly like a Kairi's?]

Who are you, anyway?

[yes, that. he actually thinks it might be stolen.]

My name's Kai.

[a-and his eyes aren't leaving the Soldier. actually, he's starting to step backwards, since it's getting closer.]

Kai. As in, a Kairi.

[his eyes go from the necklace to Kai's face almost disbelievingly, and the crow flies up in surprise as Riku throws his arm up to summon a portal for the Heartless to go into when it moves to attack.]

Uh-huh! I'm a boy Kairi.

[he gasps when the Heartless disappears into the portal, then beams up at Riku.]

Thank you!

[he isn't smiling, though he certainly looks very, very interested. he won't mention that he didn't do it for the kid.]

I think there's someone who'd like to meet you.

Really? Who?

[he looks incredibly curious, and not at all wary.]

A... friend of mine. She's someone very special.

[he's holding out his hand, the crow circling them both overhead and watching the exchange avidly.]

[Kai reaches for Riku's hand, unaware of the danger posed.]

What's her name?

[he's quick to get a good grip on the kid's hand, opening up another portal with the other as he starts pulling Kai toward it.]

Maleficent.

[he eyes the portal warily, attempting to dig his heels into the floor. not that it matters much, as he's not exactly much of a dead weight.]

Do we hafta go see her through there?

It's a really, really long walk if we don't. You're not chicken, are you?

[tuuuug.]

[he still looks pretty worried, biting his lip. but he figures if Riku saved him from the Heartless, he wouldn't let him get hurt some other way! so he'll go along, but he's quiet and staying very close.]
