[right now, Kai is possibly the saddest panda. he's sitting on the shore in the beach room, silent, cradling the hand his ring is on to his chest. he's still kind of injured, but he doesn't care, because his heart hurts more; Axel's missing, and unlike previous times where it's been a case of him getting caught up in something, this time... well, he can't sense him anywhere in the dressing room at all.]

[behold! a pint-sized kid with his pint-sized schoolbag stuffed to the brim with his summer assignments- he's standing a few feet away from Kai, just watching.]

[he doesn't immediately acknowledge Sora's presence, but after a minute or so he does turn to smile weakly at him.]

Hey.. Um.

[he pulls the schoolbag off his shoulder and sets it on the sand next to Kai.]

Y'know how we made a deal that you'd have to eat strawberries if you ever blew up? Well.. There's no strawberries in the kitchen so I was gonna make you do my math homework instead, but..

Do you need a hug?

...yeah, I think I do need a hug.

[he'd forgotten about that deal, and would protest doing Sora's homework for him; he doesn't think 'bug's daddies would be particularly happy about that.]

[they wouldn't mind! >_> well, okay, they might question the suspicious change in Sora's penmanship, but they totally wouldn't mind! Sora plops on down in front of Kai, holding his arms out to him for a hug.]

[Sora will be getting one heck of a hug, and Kai will do his best not to just blubber all over him.]

[Sora clings back as tightly as he thinks he's able without squishing whatever injuries Kai still has, nuzzling at his shoulder affectionately.]

What's the matter, Mister Kai?

Axel's gone.

[he doesn't know why it happened, since he's pretty sure Axel didn't get into a fight and die.]

I... I'm not sure. I think he might have... which would be very bad.

[especially if time's been passing in Axel's world.]

You should write him a letter, Mister Kai! I've got a pencil and some paper and a bottle if you want!

[the bottle would normally be an odd thing for an 8 year old to carry around, but Sora usually has one on him just for this purpose. he sometimes writes his parents after his lessons.]

I'm not sure if it would reach him, 'bug. I don't think he'll be anywhere near water.

[but oh, that's adorable. and sweet. and 'bug is getting more hugs.]

[... s-sigh, Sora. he holds the pencil and paper out to Kai.]

[he grins, because Sora is adorable and never fails to cheer him up. but yes, he'll take the paper and pencil and start writing after a moment.]

Well... we're already kind of married. Axel gave me a ring at Christmas.

We didn't have a proper wedding, no. I don't know if there's anyone here who can do that kind of thing.
