[Hikari is not looking forward to this.

She is currently standing at the end of the hall leading to the desert room, looking around warily before taking a deep breath and heading down there. This has been coming since the Heartless invasion last week when she broke her promise to herself to not let Layla know about her keyblade.

Then again even if she just used her magic, this would probably have had to happen anyway.

Hikari stops in front of the door and tries to calm her nerves again before stepping inside and looking around.]

H-hello?

[There'll be a bit of a stirring in the sands ... Kurt knows when there's a keybearer on his turf. He leans over, down, to look at her.]

[Hikari inwardly winces, stifling the urge to run. Running now would only make it worse. And yeah being polite right now would be best.]

M-May I speak to Layla please?

You'll find her in her personal room, opposite the entrance to this place. [He tilts his head a little.] I presume you wanted to talk to her about things you didn't.

[Hikari nods, hands clasped in front of her.]

Yes sir.....thank you.

[she turns to exit the room, slipping across the hall and knocking on Layla's door.]

[Hikari stuffs her hands in her pants pockets and fidgets a little before finally speaking.]

[She takes a moment before she gives a bit of a nod, and opens the door to her room - compact, all earth colours, with a bed against one wall and a pile of beanbags against the opposite one. She stands, hands behind her back, biting her lip a bit.]

[Hikari steps inside and gives the room a cursory glance before looking at Layla, swallowing past the lump in her throat before forcing herself to speak.]

I...I'm sorry...for...for not telling you before....

[She looks down at her feet as her voice drops to a whisper]

You were scared? You weren't being attacked by your own kind... and no-one was waving around a weapon that's meant to hurt people like you.

[She is fully expecting Layla not to believe that, and she's got every right not to.]

[Looks up at her, feeling a little better.]

You were the first person remotely close to my age at the time that I met, and i was afraid if you knew, you wouldn't want to be my friend.

[Sighs and kicks at the floor a little.]

Guess i should have been completely up front with you about it.

[She looks aside for a moment and brushes a lock of hair behind her ear.]

[Layla puts her head in her hands for a moment.]

Yeah. I ... kinda get it. I mean, I didn't tell you I could. Uh, change what I looked like. But ... I've always been told to watch myself if there's keyblades about. Just in case. And then it came out like that?

[Hikari manages a tiny smile for a moment.]

That was pretty cool.

[Then the smile fades. She's pretty sure that won't change things back to how they were before so she just stays quiet for now, not sure what to say.]

[Layla actually manages a smile a bit, herself.]

I guess I thought ... big secrets aren't right. I thought maybe you could be a friend I didn't have to hide stuff from. But you were hiding stuff too.

[Hikari nods a little bit, twisting the end of a lock of hair around her finger.]

[Hikari pauses for a moment as if trying to remember then shakes her head with a very relieved expression. This has gone a lot better than previously anticipated.]

[She's had enough time to cool off. Honestly, she's still not sure things are going to be right again, but ... she's ready to give it a go, at least, for the sake of the best friend she has in this time.]

And ... I guess you know what I am. I dunno if there's anything else I need to say?
