[ Kairi is standing outside of Sora's bedroom door, clad in pink pajama shorts and a white cotton tank-top as she readjusts the strap of the overnight bag on her shoulder. She's late, so she expects that Riku is already waiting with Sora on the other side of the door. Kairi smiles because it feels like old times, before any of them had even thought of leaving the islands.

It was their first night back, and already they all understood that things couldn't be the way they were before. Sora had to leave again, and although Riku hadn't told Kairi what his plans were yet, she had a feeling he'd be going too. Tonight, though, Kairi got her best friends to herself. No keyblades, no heartless, no surprises. They would all just watch a movie from Sora's bed and talk until the sun came up and couldn't stay awake any longer.

She turns the doorknob and pushes the door in just slightly, meaning to peek in to make sure Sora and Riku weren't armed with pillows, ready to start a pillow fight as soon as she walked in, but there's suddenly an invisible force that swings the door wide open and yanks Kairi into the room. She's not on the islands anymore.

Instead, Kairi's just been swept into an occupied bedroom of the Dressing Room. ]

[CRASH]...[free Kairi?] Uh?

[ Oof! Kairi's face is buried in the crook of Sora's neck. Her eyes are scrunched shut as she tries to shake the sensation of whiplash, but she's making a quick enough recovery, opening her eyes a bit to peer over Sora's shoulder. ]

Sorry, I don't know what happ— Did your mom change your room while you were away?

[ She pulls her head back to look up at him, and she's obviously a bit startled by the dark circles under his eyes. ]

You look exhausted...

No. What about my mom doing things I don't think she'd bother with?

[he's also kinda' taller, what with being from a weird parallel universe]

This is how I always look...now...uh you're from another world I can just tell.

I don't know why she would change it either, but just look at it!

[ Raising her eyebrows at his mention of being from another world, Kairi's taking a step back to hold him at arms-length and look him up and down. Something feels wrong about this. ]

Did Riku put you up to this?

[ She's looking back over her shoulder to try to see where Riku's hiding. ]

...You think Riku's this imaginative?

[UNCHARACTERISTIC BURN]

[ Kairi quickly turns her head back around to give Sora a small frown. ]

What...? Sora, you're not acting like yourself. This isn't a very funny joke.

I'm acting like myself, just not the myself you know...listen it's complicated, you may need to sit down.

Okay...

[ He gets a suspicious look as she takes a seat at the foot of his bed. ]

Tell me what's going on.

[He doesn't usually indulge in cheeseburgers, it's supposed to be an occasion food, but by the looks of it, he's about to go into a whole four-corse meal... of burgers. Roxas' ears twitch--and he leaps out of his chair just in time for Kairi to crash into it. He tail slowly swishes from side to side, as he watches her, his blue eyes slitted. Aw, now his dinner's all over Kairi.]

That's a different way of saying hello.

[ She hit her ribcage on the arm of the chair, and it feels like there's going to be a massive bruise at her hip come morning. Her bag has escaped her shoulder only to settle a few feet away. Slightly disoriented, Kairi puts her hands out to lift herself off of the chair. There are three squished burgers left on the chair, cheesy remnants left in blotches on her torso. ]

Sora? Riku?

[ She closes her eyes and lifts a hand to her head to rub it as she gets back onto her feet. The fourth burger falls from where it'd apparently been pressing against her shorts onto the floor, hitting her foot on the way down. Opening her eyes to look at it, she has to question her luck. She turns to look at whoever's speaking to her. It's neither of the boys she'd been expecting to see. ]

—Roxas? Is that a... tail?

[ Something is terribly, terribly wrong. ]

Well, you're in another universe, and this place takes different versions of the same people from different universes to bring them here.

[hi Kairi, have a badly startled Riku a few feet away and pointing his Keyblade at you]

[ Kairi blinks, looking thoughtfully down at her lap as she takes a moment to comprehend what Sora's saying. Then she raises her gaze back to Sora's, nodding with resolve. ]

Alright, so you must be Sora from a different universe than the one I come from, but why would this place want to bring us here?

[ She lifts a hand to slip the strap of her overnight bag off of her shoulder, letting it fall onto the mattress. So much for no surprises. ]

How would I even know? I just roll with it.

[shrugs]

[ The next thing she knows, Kairi's hanging over the edge of Riku's bed and there's a keyblade being pointed at her. ]

Riku!

[ She doesn't let the fact that this is not Sora's room trouble her just yet, because the bigger issue at hand is most definitely the length of keyblade she's looking down to see her best friend's startled face. She takes a second to try to recover from the shock before picking herself back up and taking a few steps in Riku's direction before carefully reaching around the keyblade to make a reassuring gesture in placing her hand on his. ]

[and it disappears as soon as she touches him, though the unexpected touch itself made him jump a bit]

Kairi?

[ She smiles at that. ]

Ha ha, well do you know if this place has a name? Or a way to get home?

Neither, sorry.

[ She gives a tiny jump in response to Riku's, but keeps her hand on his. ]

Yes.

[ She's looking him over worriedly. ]

What's wrong, Riku?

It's alright. At least it was you I bumped into.

[ She tilts her head, looking him over again. ]

How old are you? You... look a little more grown up than the Sora I know, heh.

... yes.

[With every piece of cheeseburger that falls or is smooshed in his sight, he sort of droops lower, ears slowly tipping down.]

And ears. Are you... okay?

I'm...[looks up and thinks, going 'one...two...'] 19.

[ Kairi stares wide-eyed at him for a moment before giving up on making sense of this all on her own. She's walking toward him. ]

I'm confused. If you're here, where is Sora? And where are we?

[ She's a little surprised by the amount of time it takes for him to answer, but she doesn't mention it. Instead, she just wonders if this is how her Sora's going to look when he's nineteen. Hm. ]

And you've traveled to all kinds of worlds too, haven't you?

... I don't know where the Sora you know is. I'm a Nobody where you come from... right?
