A Long Time Coming

[When this particular girl woke up this morning, she didn't feel the need to be thankful for anything. Which is saying something's wrong, since she knows full well that her luck has run her into the best time of her life as of late. The problem isn't that she's ungrateful, but that she simply lacks the means of feeling.]

[When she figured out her heart was gone again (not hard to do, without the warm fuzzy feeling of waking up next to her boyfriend in the morning), Kairi made her way out of her room. She's currently sitting in the kitchen where she's often found, looking kind of spacey. Someone doesn't know how to tell Riku.]

[She hesitates before looking at him and giving a smile. She's hoping he doesn't notice right away.]

[She's unusually quiet, and she's avoiding eye contact whenever she isn't speaking to him. She seems just spacey in general, but she's cleaned up, so it's obvious she's not still groggy from waking.]

... [She reaches out and takes his hand, putting it between her own. She takes his hand up to her cheek, pressing it against the soft skin.]

[She takes that hand down to her upper chest, putting over where her heart was supposed to be.]

[Her frown mimics his, and she looks away. It still bothers her in her mind to see him that way.]

[His expression shifts to one that's more angry, and he pulls back his hand.]

[Her eyes narrow toward him.]

[She looks at him, a false determination in her eyes that slowly fades to nothingness, then a hint of fabricated remorse.]

... Why did it have to go..? [She's looking down at her hands now, her fingers closing and opening as if trying to grasp what's already gone.]

[don't mind him, he's just groggily making his way over toward the coffee pot. that is one of the things he is certain of where it is.

he's also wearing deep blue pants and a wild-colored, long-sleeved Hawaiian shirt, which he doesn't actually know is patterned.]

[There's another girl walking into the kitchen, and she can see that spacey look, and is not really used to seeing a Kairi look that way.

But it's not like she's worried about it. She cant worry. She lost her heart a while ago too.

She can be curious though.]

[just glances up at him, though her expression only changes for a moment, until she realizes you aren't her boyfriend. Then it turns back to being blank, with a slight hint of distaste.]

[Riku isn't her favorite person in the world, to put it lightly. Unless it's her boyfriend, but he had to work for it.]
